MyJSpace
Nice, but not for me..., April 21, 2008

MyJSpace It works well and I'm sure this is a good component for some. But for my use, I was disappointed in a few things.

You can't title the pages, only "name" them. So the name of the page has to be limited and no spaces or symbols are allowed. For example you can't use "my page" or "my_page" you have to use "mypage" If you have very many pages, this could become more frustrating.

Also, you cannot link the pages to the profile page of community builder. This is also limiting because the View module just lists all the pages without a way to know what page belongs to who.

That might not be a problem for a small community website or if one user wants to use it to build single pages. But I have website with over 400 members and I was looking for a way for my members to each be able to build a "myspace" type page. With over 400 members, we need a way to link the pages to the profiles instead of listing them all in one unsorted index.

SmoothGallery + Lightbox Joomla Mambot Ajax
 Excellent - Exactly what I wanted, July 6, 2007

SmoothGallery + Lightbox Joomla Mambot Ajax I love this mambot. It's very classy and easy to work with. I love the fact that it allows you to place a slide show anywhere in the content of your website. I looked at several other options for slide shows but so many were modules.

The template I use on my site is very simple. I can only locate modules on the left and I didn't want to place a slide show of my pictures on the left. SmoothGallery + Lightbox was the perfect answer for my needs.

UGM Ultimate Gallery Manager Joomla Component AJAX
 Exactly what I needed!, July 6, 2007

UGM Ultimate Gallery Manager Joomla Component AJAX I want to say thank-you! This component was exactly what I needed for my website. It allows you to use Picasa2 (free from Google) to organize and prepare photo albums. Then you can easily zip the files and upload them onto your website. It's easy and quick.

When you install UGM, you will be given the opportunity to watch two how-to videos which demonstrate how to use Picasa1 and UGM. The videos are extremely helpful and I recommend that you take the time to watch them. I'm usually the kind of person who likes to figure things out on my own but I have to say that the videos really helped me discover much more about what can be done using these tools than I would have figured out on my own. I'm really glad that I watched them.

The latest version of UGM (1.0.6) seems to be working without any problems. I first installed an earlier version and it had a number of bugs but the support on oscandy forum was great! The bugs I had earlier were addressed immediately and new releases were put out as soon as the bugs were fixed. After my experience, I have confidence that any future issues will be addressed just as quickly and efficiently.

I can highly recommend this component! Thank-you Taras, Great work!
