ccNewsletter - Joomla! 1.5 Newsletter Component
easy to use and ok, September 12, 2008

ccNewsletter - Joomla! 1.5 Newsletter Component CCNewsletters is a nice newsletter component. It works real easy and smooth. A few things that I would like to see added:

- sending of MIME: text and html in one message. Not everybody likes html in their email.

- a "read this newsletter online"-feature. The component saves the newsletter in the db, but this is not accessibel through the frontend for users to read the newsletter online.

- a forum on the dev's website, so I can sort out my questions before bothering the developer with noob stuff

I like it, I use and I look forward to next releases!

MailMan/Joomla Bridge
 A very neat solution!, June 11, 2008

I was trying to find a solution to integrate a maillist subscription to my Joomla install. Luckely my host (still on shared server) offers Mailman as a list-solution and this bridge is just superb. Mailman is very user friendly and has many options, but most of the time users don't need them.

If your install doesn't work, try to configure without the "Appended Domain" option, even on a shared server.

If you use Community Builder on your site, you can change the link on the component frontend in the language file.

This component would be great as a Community Builder plugin... That would make it a six star rating.

 Superb!, June 25, 2007

This component does what it says. Create feeds for any category you like. Easy to configure and setup. Just be sure to give in the correct category name (just guess where I went wrong...).
Support for live bookmarks, create your own buttons from within the component. Just nice.

Con: DB installation needs improvement. You need to install it after you've installed the component and this will mess someone up one day. Component could do with a nice own menu.
These are rather small issues, the component works great!

Simpletags
 Works fine..., May 24, 2007

when you look around a bit.

The com, mod and both bots do what they should, and produce a nice output. Be sure to download the whole package; I did not find them clustered together (missed out the mod, downloaded the wrong one first, but they are all there ;-)

If your ini file does not support the call time pass reference, you'll get an error. Add this to your .htacess file to make it work (that is if you don't have access to your ini file):
php_flag allow_call_time_pass_reference 1
