Joomlib
 Great Idea, November 25, 2007

Joomlib This is a great idea I think it would be really popular - but at the time of writing their homepage is down the other link giving in the documentation leads to a dead "link page". This extension worked for me on a test site - but failed on the live site. Probably a simple enough issue but with no documentation and no support site I had to uninstall it and cant rate it highly.

I think possibly its released a little too early as I still feel when they get a support site up this will be a great addition!

JoomSEO
 Great, November 5, 2007

I am still a bit of a newbie and only just starting to look at SEO so was looking for somethng simple - this certainly fits the bill. Installed perfectly appears to do what it says.

Too early to say if it actually has an impact on my sites ratings but looks positive so far

SOBI Simple Featured Listings
Simple and functional, October 22, 2007

SOBI Simple Featured Listings As still a relative newbie I am always worried about adding things to a working website, my experience with this though was great - good documentation in the forums it uploaded without a hitch and did exactly what it claims it will do !

Its being heavily supported right now and several updates have been released in the past week at time of writing - but uninstall and reinstall of a newer version also went without a hitch.

Highly recomended if you need / want to "feature" some of the listings in your SOBI2 directory - probably has other uses too!

 Spot on, July 5, 2007

Does exactly what it says - installed flawlessly and worked first time. And in my opinion at least adds interest to otherwise pretty plain text pages.

Would be nice to be able to change the colour of the drop cap - but although I have not tried yet I suspect that would be a pretty easy mode to the CSS

worked first time, June 28, 2007

I have little to say - I was expecting trouble as this was the first language pack I ever installed.

Uploaded selected french - and there it was superb !

Google SiteMaps Plugin
Does the job!, June 15, 2007

Google SiteMaps Plugin Great extension - took me a few attempts to work out it needed to be installed as a mambot Doh!. But once I realised that this uploaded and installed like a dream - and google found and verified the site first time.

Joomap - Google Sitemap Extended Version
Looks great but didnt work on my host, May 24, 2007

Joomap - Google Sitemap Extended Version OK right up front I should say this didnt work for me, but it looked very much to be a host issue (in my case go daddy) rather than the software.

Which was a shame because it installed perfectly.

The site maps generated were accepted with no problem by google, which from reviews I understand was previously an issue.

And the support recieved was superb queries were answered same day -often within the hour. The developer took a real interest in the issue even logging into the site to track it down.

The support offered was FAR better than that often recieved with paid-for products!

And although I would rather not have had to uninstall - the uninstall was clean and worked as it should.

If I switch hosts at any time I would have no hesitation installing this package again!

CB SOBI2 plugin (tab)
 Cool add-on, May 11, 2007

I have very little to say about this extension - the folks at SOBI2 have always in my experience given great support.

But even I didnt need it for this extension - it did exactly what it claimed with no fuss and no complicated configuration!

SOBI2 Geo Category Overview Module
Good add on, April 25, 2007
3 of 3 people find this review helpful:

SOBI2 Geo Category Overview Module In my opinion this is not the easiest add on to get working. It requires (or did in my case) some hand coding to change css and .php files in order to work and display properly.

BUT those changes are detailed reasonably well in the enclose manual - I hit one small snag but my post on the support forum was answered within 24 hours and the suggested fix worked like a dream (the issue was with my very poor understanding of PHP rather than the product).

Bottom line this is not a "click -upload -and tick a box" product, and maybe not one a newbie like me would in retrospect have been wise to purchase.

However I AM a newbie and I got it working (with a little help from sobi) and once working it is a fantastic product!

I would certainly reccomend this great product - but expect to have to get your hands dirty with some fairly minor coding to fine tune it!

Happy Easter - falling easter images
Installed and worked fine, April 10, 2007

Happy Easter - falling easter images I downloaded this - and installation was easy and the graphics were kinda cute ..... for a short while. Didnt install it on the live site because I couldnt find a way to have it show for only "x" seconds and it was kinda intrusive after the cute factor wore off :)

Would be great if it had an option to only dispay for a pre defined time - or if you didnt expect your users to stay on the main page for very long.

Sadly not for me as most of my most recent content is on the main page so the cascade was too intrusive!

BlastChat
 Cool program, April 4, 2007
3 of 4 people find this review helpful:

BlastChat As a newbie I have been stumbling my way through developing my first joomla based website - so far tested 4 chat programs and for me this is the only one that worked as advertised (and one of only 2 that worked at all for me!).

It has all the features I need - installation was a breeze it uploaded and installed first time.

Unlike some I didnt find the configuration terribly easy ..... but then as I said I AM a neewbie - and i did find it ! So thats probably a credit to the designer :)

Personally I regret the lack of documentation - its not really needed I guess as the program is easy. But it would have made a big difference to my confidence in installing and configuring.

Although there are no docs I had a couple of questions - posted them in the support forum and got an answer from the developer same day ! Fantastic support especially as this software is provided free to the user!!!!

In terms of cosmetics the interface is fairly basic which seems to be a common thing but it does contain all the basics one really needs.

I would have no hesitation reccomending blast chat - if there is a better free / reasonably priced joomla chat component out there then I didnt find it !

Joomla Translation (JTrans Pro) Component
 fantastic, March 26, 2007
1 of 2 people find this review helpful:

Joomla Translation (JTrans Pro) Component Superb product exceptional support!

I downloaded the beta which didnt work with the configs on my host settings (godaddy).

The support offered was faultless all questions were answered same day - most within minutes. Admin took a look at my site individualy to diagnose the issue and came back within the hour with the diagnosis.... I really cant say enough good things about the level of support!

And the beta uninstalled exactly as it should and the current stable version (V3 at ime of writing) installed perfectly !

This product relies as I understand it on googles translation engine and these are not perfect yet - but if you want a site to be accessable to an international audience and dont have a staff of native speaking translators to hand copy content this is a superb product.

In my opinion it was worth far more than the licence fee and I will certainly purchase again should i develope other sites!

JCal Pro (event calendar for Joomla)
Great Product - easy install, March 25, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

JCal Pro (event calendar for Joomla) As a Joomla noob I downloaded this to add to a website where I wanted to feature events held by different clubs.

Installation was a fast and easy.

It seemed to allow easy editing from the front or back end.

It looks good - it has yet to be trialed "in the wild" but so far there is nothing negative to say about this product it installed first time and "did what it said on the tin".

Would be nice to have some extra integration features but these might come in future releases I guess.

To the developers THANK YOU for this product :)
