Easy Gallery
Very nice with some disadvantages, July 29, 2007

Easy Gallery Very nice tool (1.5) , easy to install and very useable and scalable. There are some disadvantages however but there are workarounds for it.

• Negative logic should be interpret as inverse negative logic, i.e. Ftpdisable should be set to Yes to enable it.
• Password should be invisible.
• Filenames may not contain spaces.
• Now the full filenames are set as default which is all right, but I would prefer a default name without file extension.
• Pictures are not formatted in cells so for a nice straight column lay-out you have to make your pictures all equal sized which can be done in a photo editor but not for everyone accessible.
• Back-end admins can easily change the sizes in config for mixed picture sizes, but front-end users cannot.
• You have to take care when editing comments near a picture where hyperlinks or other special options MUST be enclosed in single quotes. This cannot be done in the default wysiwyg editor so you have to switch to NoWysiwyg. (Evaluation of the var “$photo->description” is necessary).
• I do not use the joomla back option therefore I needed to add a small syntax in addition to the text beneath the picture to go back to the gallery.

Despite above comment it is a recommendable photo gallery which fulfil my needs and usable for most individual galleries.
