Content Search SEO Plugin for Joomla
 Excellent plugin!, December 3, 2008

Works as advertised. When you type a search phrase, view the HTML for the results page and you'll see the meta keywords.

Communicator
A simple and functional newsletter component!, October 4, 2008
0 of 1 people find this review helpful:

Communicator I have used Acajoom Pro and other newsletter components for my clients and this one by far is the easiest to use. Everything worked out of the box and creating a newsletter to use as a template was a snap! Now all my clients need to do is copy the template with the copy function, edit and send. That easy.

To the author, thank you! One nice little enhancement would be for the subscribe module to have an unsubscribe button..

SIMGallery
 A great component but..., September 5, 2008
1 of 5 people find this review helpful:

I just purchased this component and the first time my customer tried to use it, they couldn't. The reason is this product communicates with the IONO licensing server (which I suspected) and if the authors site is down (which it is right now), your gallery is offline.

Until this licensing server tie-in is removed, this product has a lot of risks for production servers. I know this author is fearful his software is going to be compromised but, putting legitimate customers site at risk of not working is a poor business decision. I would look at another solution if this is unacceptable to you.

I will have to start looking for another solution again and that's too bad since this plugin integrates so well with CB and has some good modules. Another upside to this product is the uploader, which is first class! I will also check on refunds.

What led me to figure this out is my customers site started getting the dreaded IE7 Cannot open site XXX errors. When I went into the component in the admin, I thought it was a corrupted key.php error so I deleted the key.php from the server as the instructions on the site says to do.

"Everytime you update your license key, or update your domain/IP, you may have to delete the key.php file to continue. key.php located in /components/com_simgallery/"

This is what I did and not I get the error:
SIMGallery License Error: Unable to communicate with iono (i.e. http://www.ionolicensing.com/). I verified this by digging into the server logs.

As of this writing, the authors server is still offline and so is my customers gallery.

J!Cafe
 Buyer beware!, August 19, 2008
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:

J!Cafe I usually follow my gut and I don't buy software with marginal or questionable ratings but I did it anyway with J!Cafe.

After first installing the software, I had a problem where the Cafepress store was not showing all the time so, I emailed support as instructed on the website. Nothing. Emailed them again, they asked a question, went away and never replied with a fix or answered my other questions. There is no documentation either. Fortunately, the code was not encoded so I dug in and found the problem and fixed it myself. This is an embarrassing situation when you purchase a product for a clients site and have this happen.

While surfing the net for alternatives, I ran across this page which tells an even bigger story. The author is trying to sell the entire business. Spotty support if your lucky and they are trying to sell the business.

So, there you have it.

Title Manager
Must have plugin.., May 21, 2008

Use this along with sh404Sef and you have full control over your site and page titles. I was having a real struggle with sh404sef (still in beta) and this plugin helped resurrect my site title which had disappeared which was killing my google ranking.

KL_RSSFEED Joomla 1.5 native_scroller
Great start but..., May 13, 2008
1 of 2 people find this review helpful:

I tried it on one of the blog sites I frequent and nothing displays. After looking at the code, it looks like the author is hooking into Joomla RSS XML API's which many not work with RSS 2.0?

mtwMigrator
 Works like a champ!, April 6, 2008
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

mtwMigrator I used this to migrate a 1.0 site when the official migrator was causing SQL errors. GREAT JOB!

Joomla Updater Script
 Great start!, April 3, 2008
3 of 5 people find this review helpful:

This is a great start for a script with potential. What would make it better is to be able to pipe a list of directories from a text file with Joomla installs/dirs to update recursively!

For a Joomla hosting company (like mine), this could give you the ability to add sites (/home/joomlasite) in say a cPanel setup to update to the latest and greatest Joomla.

That is a big expense from a hosting perspective.

DT Register
 Excellent product, March 24, 2008

DT Register I used this product to easily setup a golf registration site and it was a breeze to use. The author is quick to respond to questions and make suggestions.

SmartFormer 2.2.
Finally, a wysiwyt form creator, March 17, 2008
3 of 3 people find this review helpful:

SmartFormer 2.2. I have been waiting on someone to finally create a WYSIWYG form tool for Joomla! I have multiple customers with form tools and they are a challenge to support/train. Now when a customer needs a form tool, I can buy this tool and have them watch the presentation as a training aid and I'm done.

MoeScroll - Scrolling Content Module v1.0.8
Looks nice but.., February 12, 2008

MoeScroll - Scrolling Content Module v1.0.8 On Safari (Mac) it pegs out the CPU's. I have seen this one other time for another JS scroller I ran across on the net.

Magictoolbox TinyMCE fix
Other uses as well, February 9, 2008
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

Great little script. I think the author should have tooted his horn a little more because he has Virtuemart integration instructions for other scripts on his site like image zoom. Neat stuff!

Query Cache - RC 2
Works as advertised!, January 18, 2008

I was a little skeptical about this component but I decided to give it a go. I used http://webwait.com/ to provide some basic benchmarking which closer resembles what a typical user would see.

I ran the benchmark without the product installed. Next I enabled eAccelerator and ran the bench again. What a difference! I then ran the bench again using the FIle method versus eAccelerator... Guess what? It was just as fast so, if you don't have eAccelerator in your hosted environment, don't worry, this component will still have a big impact especially for heavily queried sites like CB sites which I benched against.

Another bench I ran was turning on the Joomla cache.. Ran the bench again and even more improvements were seen on sites with big images...

I would say install at your own risk but so far, it's working perfect.

PrayerCenter
This has been a wonderful component!, January 15, 2008

PrayerCenter Thank you for sharing this most needed component...

ECJC Online Shop
Great product - poor support, November 15, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

ECJC Online Shop I purchased this product recently and things were going great. It's well integrated into Joomla and has a good mix of CIP addons and features. This is where the buck stops though.

Once the product was installed, I enabled the Affiliate feature and all seemed well until I started testing the Affiliate sign-up feature. It's broke which is no big deal because I had found and fixed about 6 bugs already. I'm not a developer but I can hold my own with hacks and fixes.

Well, this one I couldn't for the life of me figure out! I sent Chris (Joomla-host dev/owner) a PM and put a message in the forums. Over a week later, no response. One could almost assume the project is dead?

The forums have no activity from the site owner and no responses to others plea for help. Granted, the product was cheap to purchase but come on, if your not going to support it, state it in your site somewhere so that the buyer can assess if it's a product worth purchasing without support.
