Member Care System
Has Great potential!, January 22, 2008

Member Care System Just installed MCS v1.0.2 on Joomla 1.0.13 with Virtuemart and without CB. This product worked really great until I modified the configuration a couple of times. The configuration screen reverted to RAW code and I haven't been able to get it back to normal ever since. Emails going out are now only have a subject line but nothing else. Refreshing and clearing caches doesn't seem to make a difference. I haven't tried reinstalling yet to see if this will fix it. This component has great potential which is only let down by with what seem a few minor bugs.

RegistrationBlocker
 A really great mambot., November 7, 2007

I’m using RegistrationBlocker 1.3.1 on a Linux/MySQL4 server using Joomla 1.0.12 with CB 1.1 and Fireboard 1.0.3. It all Works as described and is simple to install and setup. My only issue presently is that it seems to interfere with using the CB 1.1 ajax username checker when turned on. The username checker’s “green” message works fine for when a username is available for registration, but the “red” message that indicates that the username is not available doesn’t. I have not been able to figure out what’s going on here but I hope that the next version works with this option, otherwise a must have mambot.

"JoomlaCloner" - backup and restore
Good but licensing restrictions makes it difficult to use, April 8, 2007

"JoomlaCloner" - backup and restore This would be a relatively good product. Unfortunately the way its licensed can cause problems. I have had to reinstall it several times when it just stops working and this seems to be related to the encryption used in generating the cron job php file. Every time you need you add a sub-domain you have to go online to Joomlaplug and generate a new code, what a real pain this is! Beware also that if you choose to purchase the product with only the 1 year support this is essentially a subscription service. When it expires, you won't be able to generate any new codes for your sites or sub-domains unless you cough more dollars! I'll be looking for a good cron script to use after my subscription expires. This is a good product that is let down by the poor way its licensed which makes it difficult to use and maintain.
