I've upgraded from version 1.8 to 1.9.2 but it didn't work, so i switched to 2.0beta. It works! Just some problems with italian letters àèìòù...
To upgrade DON'T install but overwrite files. Always backup first.

I've searched a lot for a message module with auto update. So users don't have to refresh page to see if they have new messages. I've added a little hack to have popup alert on new messages, just take a look here:

My shoutbox didn't work because my sever set the permission as 644, i set 755 for all the files (module and component) and then all gone ok!
Great program!

I've tried many and many chat modules, over a variety of CMS: phpnuke, postnuke, xoops, phpWebSite and probably some other...
Until now I think the best is DHChat, for phpnuke. This module works very well, fast and nice, but:

-it does a redirect when you launch the chat, so your website has the address:
http://gabbly.com/http://www.yourjoomlasite.com/index.php
during operation of the chat

-no user database integration, every user can choose the name he/she wants.

About my previous error notification don't worry, it has been a mistake by myself.
Now everything installed on joomla 1.0.8 but:

-smilies don't work (they refer to a javascript that doesn't exist)
-security code don't appear, so i can't post comments

by the way a pair of feature request:

-security code optional
-no fields "email" and "homepage" for registered users
