FacileForms
 Developer-less Forms, March 17, 2008
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:

FacileForms I asked our I.T. Developers for a simple form with less than 4 categories...they him-haw'd and said it would take "months" to implement such a thing! I setup my internal server, Joomla and installed Facile Forms...got it kicking and submitting emailing form results with well over 15 categories of submissions in less than two days!

I especially liked being able to change the text/button/content location in real-time and refreshing the results in multiple browsers (ie/firefox/opera) to find just the right fit. Even cooler was the option to export your forms so that others could simply import the forms you created/authored into their own FacileForms. Imagine a community of form creating kooks...how wonderful would that be?

The only downside is that I upgraded to Joomla 1.5, but that's my fault...it would be great to see this ported over to 1.5. If anything, I am tempted to downgrade my Joomla simply for the use of FacileForms...but I'll avoid it if I can.

JoomlaFCK editor
Techie Tested, Basic User Approved!, August 20, 2007

JoomlaFCK editor The only beef I had was that I had to edit the "fckeditor.php" file on line 97 because my Base Path is a tad bit different. I installed Joomla in a root directory named "main" which tripped up the Base Path found in the fckeditor.php file.

Changed:
oFCKeditor.BasePath = "/mambots/editors/fckeditor/" ;

To:
oFCKeditor.BasePath = "/main/mambots/editors/fckeditor/" ;

Since I added to my own problems by not following the Joomla install norm, I won't hold it against the programmer who gave us these neato tools. Thanks a bunch!

Community Builder
Community Builder ROCKS!, May 25, 2007

Community Builder It certainly serves as the HUB of my Communities which I run on multiple domains. It also allows me to fiddle less with the Global Configuration in Joomla, always a plus!

I also enjoy a community of extensions surrounding this which seems to ensure the longetivity of it. Thanks!

It Works as Advertised..., May 25, 2007

It worked and integrated with Community Builder just fine, the only problems I ran into were the layout. I didn't especially like it. It would be great to add some sort of wonderful way to edit the template, but I know the author is super busy working and balancing existing projects already. I also had a bit of trouble editing the .php file in order to create my own layout of the PM system.

If I didn't have JoomlaXplorer I would have given up, but lucklily I was able to edit the .php file in place.

Ascii throws in the Towel..., May 25, 2007

I have tried installing this on various locations and have yet to get it running properly. Most installs do not go past the initial install and setup. For those that can install this I am envious of you, for those that can't you're among friends! :)

Sounds like a great PM development, but I tend to cringe when it doesn't work "out-of-the-box." I would have been more excited and tried to make it work if I had gotten over that ant hill.

gigCalendar Addon FrontEnd
 Gig Booked!, May 25, 2007

gigCalendar Addon FrontEnd I will say that I have previously tried installing this before, but for some unknown reason I could not get it to work properly during the install portion. After much time, I tried again and it worked just fine.

I enjoy the simplicity in being able to Add Gigs, Events and Venues directly from the front end, making it possible for Band Members and non-pc people to do their thing w/o complications.

Fantastic, if only more components could flex admin muscle from the front-end.

joomlaXplorer
Proven to be Instrumental..., May 25, 2007
2 of 3 people find this review helpful:

joomlaXplorer While you may be able to use Hosting File Explorers, FTP Apps and various other apps...none have worked as great as this one when it comes to editing files with hardened permissions.

I had a component that would simply not let me change, edit or replace any portion of the file or the file altogether using various methods (FTP, Host Dir, HTTP), but JoomlaXplorer let me edit/write into document directly which to me has proven invalueable and instrumental when one needs to make quick changes on the fly!

A must have for those who truly seek a hassle-free approach!

ARTIO JoomSEF
JoomSEF's failure was due to my part!, May 25, 2007
3 of 3 people find this review helpful:

ARTIO JoomSEF I installed and set it up with no problems, then I attempted to configure it noted with the installation and could not get it to work for the life of me. I knew the problems revolved around my .htaccess and installing Joomla into a sub-directory of my Root. So many other reviews stated it worked great so I hunkered down and configured, tweated and messed with the instructions until I figured out the problem. I simply was not reading the instructions well enough... ^_^

I was messing up the 3rd Party SEF Section of my .htaccess, I was leaving out the subdirectory (main) info on my:
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(main/component/option,com) [NC,OR] ##optional - see notes##

Once I plugged that puppy in, it all began working flawlessly, cheers!

BSQ Sitestats
It works as stated...how'bout some:, May 25, 2007

It was easy to install and setup on both the front and back-end. It would be an Excellent if it could have something similar to Stalytics where it even pulls up the information:

Visit Time/Date, Provider/IP, Referrer etc like Stalytics does on their visitor tab. If it already does this and I totally missed how to enable that, then I apologize and ask that you kindly refer me accordingly.

I like it for its simplicity, great work!

C. H. Spurgeon's Morning and Evening
Manual Setup if Install fails..., May 22, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

C. H. Spurgeon's Morning and Evening While the Local Server install worked great, it failed online giving me the error below. I tried fixing the .zip download file, removed mac folder and what not to no avail:

"ERROR: Fatal error: Call to a member function getTagName() on a non-object in /home/trutriv4/public_html/main/administrator/components/com_installer/installer.class.php on line 167"

So I simply took all of the files, put them in a com_spurgeon folder, threw them into my Components folder online and added this link to my main menu:
"index.php?option=com_spurgeon&Itemid=31"

Worked like a charm! :)
I now have 365 Days of Spurgeon on my Website. Thank you Foster for all the hard work you put into this.
