I just found this component yesterday and decided to give it a test run. After playing with it the last 24 hours or so, I have to say this is a great little component! It installed easily and was pretty easy to use once you figure out how the various groupings relate to each other.
It could use a bit of work, and a companion module or two, to be really great, but even as is, it's a wonderful little product.
Some of the changes I'd like to see have been mentioned by others. The ability to be able to set the order the songs are listed in an Album, instead of using the default descending sort on Song Title, being a very useful change. There's a few minor changes in English Language usage that could still used to be cleaned up also. Also staying more consistent with the terminology. But those are minor points and don't involve how the function works.
I did have problems getting video files to play using the video player. Not sure what's up with that, the video portion kept disappearing, even though you could still here the audio. I'll have to play with it some more to be sure its not something I am doing wrong though.
I really think this component could grow to be one of the better components ever conceived for Joomla. Especially for those of us running Music Oriented sites. I've not seen a better alternative to this yet, and I've experimented with everything I could find so far. Yeah, it needs to be fixed up a bit. The Main Component page that displays the "Categories" breaks my Template for some reason, but again, that can be fixed.
Here's hoping the developer continues on with his idea here. This is one Component I'll be keeping my eye on for future development. ;)

I'm relatively new to Joomla, but not to website creation. While setting up a new Joomla based website, I decided I wanted to attempt to put an Arcade on it. I'm a video gamer who cut his teeth during the early age of video games in the 70's and 80's. Many of the Flash games used in these arcade systems are versions of those games from my youth, so I have a certain nastalgia for them. :)
I tried a number of the Arcade systems available for Joomla here before trying dcsFlashGames. These were all free and to some degree, were all pretty decent, but just seemed to lack something to me. It wasn't until I tried dcsFlashgames that I realized what was missing was just the sheer ease of use and power of the Component.
With the release of dcsFlashGames 2.0RC, the system really seems to have taken a step forward. I only used the 1.5 version for a little more than a week, but the 2.0 version is definitely an improvement on an already well designed system. The addition of user voting for games, favorite games, and the new Trigger system for integration with other components and modules was just what I've been looking for! And the ease of upgrading and use were very much appreciated!
And while dcsFlashGames is an excellent Arcade system for Joomla, where it really shines is in the level of support from the development team. Questions on their forums are answered extremely fast. They have an 800 number to contact them on if necessary. Emails are answered even faster than the forums are answered. All in all, the support is fantastic.
To this point in time, my experience with dcsFlashGames has been outstanding. Knowing what I do now, I wouldn't hesistate to recommend this to my best friends, let alone people I don't know. I'm not one to review a lot of products. This is the first item I'm reviewing here, and that's because it just simply works. And with the many modules available for it, it really does allow you to create a fully functional online Arcade in a very short amount of time. What more can you ask for?
