GCalendar
Nice simple calendar for native 1.5, April 20, 2008

GCalendar This native 1.5 calendar was simple to install and worked very well to display public events from a Google calendar in a Joomla site. During my time-limited investigation, I was not able to find the control to display private events. That is, I want to create private events in the calendar and show them to special members at the site. Until this is possible, the component is limited for me. I'll definitely track features over time and will switch to this when I can.

Attend Events
 Even better at .9, April 7, 2008

I've just upgraded to .9 build 26 and find the quality to be just fine for a production website. I carefully read the outstanding problems and none of them effected my organization because we don't accept payment on-line.

The cost management is greatly improved over .84. You can set up different costs for seniors, adults, kids. The confirmation email can include the total balance due. All in all, the new version is a big improvement over what was already the best free reservation system that I've come across.

JACLPlus
Perfect solution for what ailed me, June 22, 2007

I had three problems I wanted to solve: 1) show some pages exclusively to administrators, 2) show pages exclusively to anonymous visitors and 3) show pages exclusively to registered but not special users. JACL does all that very simply. After installing, I created three new access levels named "anonymous", "webmember", and "administrator". Then I edited the groups, adding "anonymous" access to Public Frontend, adding "webmember" to Registered" and adding "administrator" to Administrator. Voila! I could now tag a page as "Anonymous" and put it on the front page to be seen only by Public. Once you are logged in, the page is gone. Kudos.

I had a problem after un-installing whereby my entire site broke. A quick visit to the developer's homepage got me a rescue guide that was very clear. Again, kudos.
