CiviCRM
Install not too tough - Software is the best, June 6, 2008

CiviCRM Hi,

I finally figured out how to install CiviCRM. I used version 2.0.4 on Joomla! 1.5 Legacy mode....so far so good.

Install steps:
1. Download zip file to computer and then Upload it to
yourjoomladirectory/administrators/components/com_installer

2. Use Joomla! Xplorer to unpack it. After unpacking,it should be here:
yourjoomladirectory/administrators/components/com_installer/com_civicrm

3. Go to Install from Directory and enter your ENTIRE path. If you don't know what that should be (which is what my problem was) go to the Help>System Info>Configuration Path and scroll down to $log_path. This is the ENTIRE path you should be adding when using Install from Directory.

Your path will probably look something like this:
home/yourserver/yoursite.com/administrator/components/com_installer/com_civicrm

4. The actual install process may take five or so minutes.

Good Luck!!!

The software as we all know is great! This is just what my non-profit needs to complete the site and manage its operations comprehensively. CivicEvent is the answer to lots of our prayers/requests, and I prefer the Joomla! administration panel to that of Drupal.

Hope this helps.....CiviCRM Rocks!!

CPanel Mail
 Works Well, August 14, 2007

This is an excellent component. It allows you to assign an 'user@yourdomain.com' email address to users and have them sign on in Joomla via RoundCube Webmail. It is only email at this point however, and does not include a calendar or tasks, etc.

Excellent for organizations who need members to have email with the site's domain.

FireBoard Forum
Great on a clean install, July 26, 2007

FireBoard Forum I've read other comments with people having trouble migrating to Fireboard. However, as a clean install this is great! Why bother with PhpBB or SMF? It's great how members can log on right on the Home page and be ready to go by the time they get to the forum. Nice template layout and it just so happens that the default looks great on my site. The other default colors don't seem to be linked to their images, however.

One suggestion. Find a way to have Fireboard PMs so there is no need to bridge.

Overall a very nice component.

Thanks Guys!

RSform! - Form Management Component (J1.5 also)
 Excellent Forms!, July 25, 2007

RSform! - Form Management Component (J1.5 also) This is just what a newbie like me needs to get some effective and good looking forms up on Joomla! The fee of $10 is more than worth it for the product and support you get.

Thanks Alex!
