Header Image Module
    SMART works great, April 10, 2007 |
I've read some reports about the SMART feature not working so I was a little hesitant to waste a bunch of time trying to get it to work right. Well it does work and once you get your brain wrapped around it, it works great.
Here's the deal:
I'm using it on a site that I need specific header images for components as well as sections as well as random images for just 'plain pages'.
My experience is to do the following:
Use the option in the settings to create a folder for each component and drop the image in there. For example I wanted a specific image for com_search, so you create a folder called; com_search and drop your image in there 'I called it image_1.jpg'
Now when you click on that component link, the correct image gets pulled up, no problem with any of the components I've used it with.
Sections work just like the Wiki says, just use the right naming convention for them. You can even get it right down to specific header for a specific page.
And for the rest that aren't 'assigned' to any specific section etc. the header image can be random.
Like I said, bit of a bugger to get it straight in your head, but once working, I'll use it everywhere from now on.
Great job!

Joomla-SMF Forum Component (Simple Machines Forum)
Memory requirements, February 3, 2007 |

I'm using joomla 1.011 with CB and needed a decent board (joomlaboard needs 4.0+mysql server nowdays and is flighty and kind of ugly), so thought I would try this bridge.
I have 1300 CB members, the server has 512 megs ram and is a 3 mhz machine. Not a shared server, but an actual dedicated server from ipower. Well upon installing the bridge and everything working just fine, the server bogged down to a crawl. You can find numerous mentions of this on the joomlahacks forum. Basically the site was unusable, taking roughly 2 minutes to log in or sometimes not at all.
So I ordered more Ram for the machine (an extra gig) and the site flies now. Moral of the story, if you don't have a lot of available ram on the server, your site will die. Not joomlahack's fault, just the problem when bridging apps.

StopPress Banner Module
Scroll bar sticks, January 4, 2007 |
Hi,
Real promising but the scroll bar 'sticks' in firefox on the mac. You choose for it to show once for instance, after that, just a scrollbar will sit on the page, no content, just a plain little scroll bar. So each time you visit the page, there will be a wierd, solitary scroll bar floating there by itself.

Hi,
so far I'm loving these tabs. I'm on a mac and work perfectly fine in safari and firefox. Haven't checked on IE yet or a PC for that matter.
So for now...excellent

E-commerce solution for Mambo and Joomla websites.
The cost, August 6, 2006 |

This 'add on' is $250 US. To me, that's crazy. Its simply OS Commerce...period. I would rather run OS Commerce separately, design the template to match the site and be able to freely upgrade etc. whenever OS Commerce updates.
Way over priced in my own opinion. Should be about $50 bucks. No wonder they don't mention the price anywhere till you sign up and register on their site.

Mosets Hot Property
Jumbled (revised), May 18, 2006 |

In fairness to Mosets, I wanted to add an additional comment or two to my review.
After speaking with the developer, he assures me the program isn't a forgotten app and is being updated for joomla 1.5 and will include a number of new/needed features.
I can say he is very helpful if there are any questions and though it may be lacking some crucial additions, it will still get you through most of the 'standard realtor' requirements.
My suggestions is to investigate it to be sure what it currently does suits your needs, read their forum for hacks etc. and then make your decision.
I've completed my realtor site, its solid, just tougher to do than it should have to be :)

Mosets Hot Property

Hello,
I've purchased the program and have implemented it on a site. I found it just 'OK'. Its a bit jumbled, lacks some of the most important abilities. For example:
Search function - you can't have any kind of an advanced search on your real estate front page, just a basic one input box and a dropdown menu of types of real estate ie: single family, multi-family etc. Maybe you can hack one in, not sure what happens if you change your fields etc. in the back end.
Can't display feature properties in columns - hope you like them stretched out across the full length of your page
Updates: forget it, I've read it hasn't been updated in about 2 years to any degree
Notify feature: sadly missing
Save search: sadly missing
There are others but you get the idea. Also take a look at the example sites, the layout hardly varies (absolute pain to do anything really different from the default).
Backend is all right. I've never used the multi realtor function (thankfully) as I have a feeling there would be challenges as well.
All in all: Like I said, its OK, overpriced, left for dead for updating. I think if it came in around 50 bucks, it would be about right, but 120 bucks for a forgotten app, I now wonder.
If I'm wrong about any of the info above, I'd sure like to know.
