MultiPage Survey
Online survey market gap not filled, July 29, 2006 |

A clever and simple survey tool for joomla is a great idea. But this one doesn't loomk like it. Its not clear what you are buying and the demo is rather limited in showing off the versatility of the product. We hve no idea what is lurking behind the backend. Beyond the poor packaging, mrketig and documentation may well lie a useful component.

Light Fantastic?, July 2, 2006 |

Although feature-light, the installation is a snap and effect very sweet - what more can you ask for?
Highly recommended for amateurs, compared to the mdr gpl, upon which lT it is based, which can also be troublesome to set up, but packed with great features.

joomlaXplorer
Excellent, June 21, 2006 |
Will let you into areas where your ftp programme won't ... only niggle is that if you last accessed a directory which you subsequently deleted by some other means (e.g. a mod uninstall), it sometimes remembers where it last pointed and you have to strip back the url to a directory which esists. Apart from that excellent.

Mosets Tree
Pretty good, June 19, 2006 |

An inexpesnive commercial product which I have found to perform pretty well. Easy install and configure/customise. The explorer style menu is neat, as is the cheeky backend spider tool.

Works a treat!, May 30, 2006 |

Although information about this mambot is a wee bit thin, there isn't much to it - just hold your nerve and install. Ftp your xml file and an xsl style stylesheet to the correct locations (easy to forget this!), and insert code into content of you page: {mosxslt xmlfile.xml xslfile.xsl}. With xsl you can chose content to show, sort it, test expressions and lots more. Now where is my xml primer? Why are there not more xml tools for joomla?

Google Maps API
Very nice ... but needs tuning, May 30, 2006 |
This component is great. It installs without fuss. The configuration settings do require some fine tuning, which can be time consuming due to browser caching. The setting up of markers is a bit of pain, tho' I guess geocoding is the root problem here in my own experience, so not necessarily the fault of the component itself. A bulk import would utility - which also checks the validity of entries, namely postcode/zipcode, would make this an invaluable component. An excellent / active forum. Worth investigating / supporting.

Interesting ... but does it work, May 30, 2006 |

I gave this a whirl, and found the install configuration process readily understandable. However, despite trying on a number of wap devices, and a few tweaks to the config, I couldn't get the module to work at all. Shame, really.

EbayBot: Ebay Editors Kit
Could be handy ..., May 28, 2006 |

Remember to call this from your content page using {ebaykit id="searchthis+orthat"}. Relatively trouble-free to install and configure, but not sure how you change to search only for .co.uk, (or show a different currency?) so this one will be uninstalled for the time being.

Infinity Search Module
Works fine, but, May 28, 2006 |
|
Installation and configuration is a doddle (go to modules, site modules to configure.), and as far as I explored it the main search works. But, would be more a lot more useful if it could be configured for "all" the locales of the various searches / engines it supports without going into the php code. Also do we know that it uses appropriate calls to the search routines the supported engines? As ever no documentation. In summary, and although I've unpublished for the time being, worth keeping an eye out for future versions and guidance / docs on how you might add your affiliate ID to the amazon and eBay searches etc.
