A strong component with great documentation (forum & more) and many options for use. MxComment adds a lot to a standard comments system - including the ability to 'tag' items with keywords as well. That's very useful.

The developer allows you to select from a range of themes and the component itself is highly configurable. I was able to customize it to my template following some posts on the forums.

Overall, a solid component, and best of all, free.

I'm using for all of my 'web links' pages now, but there are many more uses.

Getting a handle on the interface takes some time - but that's a good thing - as the options are extensive. Add images, text, 'tool tips', link thumbnail previews, and more!

Great module - use it! Not too hard to customize.

Note : Watch out for Conflicts : IE wouldn't display transparency of the corner image on my site, due to a conflict with other Java on the page. If that is the case, you may be off better just adding your banner into the template.

Example Solution:

Add to the top of the body in the Template:

FlexAdvert has a lot options - and while the interface and behaviour of the component isn't perfect - it is the best I've found so far for banner/ad management.

The ability to determine which ads will show in which sections, categories, or articles is a BIG plus - since with many other advert systems (BannersManager et al.) - you would have to copy modules, reconfigure, and repeat.

No ad component seems to handle Flash perfectly yet, but they're working on it, and the component is solid.

LinkThumb allows you to 'preview' the next site users hover their mouse over a link.

The downside : There is only one service available, and it overlays some very small text information.

For Joomla, there isn't a lot like this out there. For specific uses, you may also want to link into the 'Bookmarks Component' - which gives you a choice of thumbnail engines.

But for now, this seems a reliable and highly usable option.

Great Bot, does exactly what it says.

JooFox allows you to have a separate page title when viewing a content item. The page title is the information that appears at the top of the browser bar.

It's easy to use - install and publish, and then fill in a page title for each content item in the 'title alias' field.

This helps with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) - since you can add some keywords to that title, making the content more searchable.

By the far the best-made, documented, and designed Search Engine Component I've tried. sh404SEF has just made things easy - I plan to install it on all of my sites!

Great module - easy to use with little time spent on set up or configuration. Tag Clouds comes with easy-to-understand parameter configuration in the module, and does exactly what it promises to. I'll be using it on multiple sites!

Documentation for BannersManager isn't great, so it can be quite tricky to use. Also, some of your display options are limited, so you may need to use the odd CSS / Joomla hack to get things how you like.

All that said, the component accomplishes it's purpose well, especially if you are swapping banners (or their positions).

Try it out, just keep in mind that you may need to make some modifications.

One of my current favorite extensions - documentation is great on the Flickr4J site and I haven't experienced any errors.

Lovely photo display and retrieval - and multiple ways to pull images from Flickr (set, photo at one of three sizes, tag cloud & more) - make this a very useful component.

Should be really useful for anyone with a Flickr Account.
