JFusion -> Universal User Integration
Latest version works!, February 8, 2008

JFusion -> Universal User Integration I was so happy yesterday when I tried it, that I almost cried! I will still be anxiously waiting for the user sync. feature so possibly using Community Builder will become possible, but just being able to FINALLY combine SMF with Joomla is just wonderful. :)

EasyComments
So far so good, February 8, 2008

EasyComments Wouldn't work on Joomla 1.5 (not that it claimed to, installed fine but wouldn't show.) I wasn't ready to give up on it though, so I installed it on another site running the previous Joomla! version, and it worked like a charm. Looks clean and uncluttered even though my site design is very graphic heavy, as it hasn't got too many colors of weird shades - like dark blue...

Good job.

Ajax Powered JChat
What's God have to do with it?, January 2, 2008
0 of 1 people find this review helpful:

Ajax Powered JChat My negatives have more to do about the way the component was presented rather than the actual use of it. It works. BUT.

The price of the license was pretty much hidden away. I don't like that.

Secondly... Your thumbnail has a nude girl in it, and after installation you get preached about God? I mean really... It's a commercial product -> no God please! For free product I take preaching but not for commercial products. (Does it ever really work? Like EVER?)

Seyret Video Component
 Fabulous. :), December 16, 2007
1 of 2 people find this review helpful:

Seyret Video Component I just installed this one to add some videos to my husbands site. This was not the most important thing on the to do list, so I wouldn't have wasted time to figure out how things work - didn't have to. Installed it and it was ready to roll, and now the video section looks like I had put a great effort into it to make it work!

This will be a great component for anyone who wants to have a video site, as said in the description sites can be built around this one component. I'm sorry I only have 2 thumbs to hold up for this one. ;)

SCE Task Manager
Good for those of you who are their own bosses., December 4, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

SCE Task Manager I like the simplicity of it, a lot of times these large project management tools are more of a confusion than of clarification, but this one is great for reminding yourself of what you were supposed to do next. However it would be very helpful if the officer in charge could also change and edit the task, as if he can't, then what's the point having an officer in the first place? Also I was a bit surprised that other super admins were not able to edit the task list, which makes it even less usable. But as I said, it is good to remind you of what you were doing and to see what others are doing at the same time, but you can't assign tasks to other users with it.

Tag Clouds
Needs a bit of work., November 27, 2007

Tag Clouds It's great if you want to add a tag cloud INSTANTLY without worrying what words are picked up. There's a lot of work to do to exclude enough words to make it really useful, and it would be easier to enter relevant words with every article written. However, it looks good on the site and works as is described.

Joomla-SMF Forum Component (Simple Machines Forum)
Unfortunately it just won't work., September 26, 2007
6 of 6 people find this review helpful:

I L-O-V-E SMF. I love Joomla. I would love to have them work together, but it just doesn't seem to happen. I have tried different combinations of bridges and SMF versions, I even went all the way down to (a fresh installation of) version RC2 as the latest bridge claimed to work with at least that one. It's a no go, login problems persist. It logs out users from the login page and there's no return. (It looks to install right at first, but try closing the browser and returning after it, to see if it works before going through a lot of trouble setting up boards. You'll still be able to get back to Admin, even if you won't be able to log on the site.)

I am using Community Builder as well, which might be the issue here, even though the bridge should support CB as well. Just to those of you who doubt me, a copy paste from my installation on the bridge about -page:

"This component is intended for use with the following versions:
Joomla 1.0.x+
Mambo 4.5.2+
Simple Machines Forum 1.1RC2+
Community Builder 1.0+

Version Information:
Your Joomla version is: 1.0.13
Your SMF version is: 1.1 RC2
Your Joomla-SMF version: 2.0.2
Latest Joomla-SMF version: 2.0"

The good thing is, it uninstalls easily.

To add to the problem, the support forum of the bridge is hmmm... not supportive. Their website is a mess, it doesn't give you information on which bridge version to use with which forum version, and their own version names conflict with the forum version. (Assuming that Joomla-SMF RC2 would work with SMF RC2 seems to be too much to assume.) If you politely ask about it, they will bitch to you and treat you like you were the stupidest & rudest person alive. What it looks like from here, their attitude is that THEY don't make mistakes, and if you can't get it to work, it's an user end issue and not their problem. The huge amount of people having a problem on their support forum are just sent away with bitching, not their problem!

So... I beg of you, would someone ELSE try building a bridge here?

Simple RSS Feed Reader v1.4: RSS for the masses!
Simple - all we need., September 26, 2007

Simple RSS Feed Reader v1.4: RSS for the masses! Simple and sweet, works first try and... well, what more could you possibly ask for? :)

The only problem I have now is where to find content that won't put my visitors to sleep... :p

No added value, September 24, 2007

Works, but adds no value to the basic Joomla Poll that comes with the installation. Simple radio button poll, no other options. (Slightly easier to only allow registered users to vote.)
To get it, you have to go through a complicated registration process. Simply not worth the time or the effort.
