 Instant downloads, January 22, 2008

I haven't tried the upload part of this (already did that the hard way through MySQL), but was looking for a way to download the whole database. Clicked on the download choice, and it did it immediately, and put it straight into Excel. No having to open the file and import into Excel. We have almost 1000 members and I was impressed by the speed.

CQI - CustomQuickIcons
Helped me help other administrators, November 27, 2007

CQI - CustomQuickIcons The back end of my site has to be accessed by various people with various levels of computer skills. Quick Icons makes it easy to have a specific icon going to a specific place (like processing users who paid their dues, or adding content to specific categories or sections). This way, I just tell someone to log in, click on the appropriate icon, and they go straight to the proper place with no confusion.

Plus it helps me with the areas I access the most. I can get rid of icons I'm not using, and get them back easily if needed.

joomlaXplorer
Use it more than any other component, November 27, 2007

joomlaXplorer I use this almost every time I log in to tweak the website. You can see all files, easily, and can instantly edit them, rename them, move them, delete them, CHMOD. Simple to upload files, too, especially if you're doing a bunch (e.g., to DOCman). Puts up a little do you really want to do this? warning when deleting. I need this sometimes late at night. No problems with installation or use.

swMenuPro
Great product, fantastic support!, November 25, 2007

swMenuPro If you've used almost any Joomla extension, you know that explanations or manuals are almost nonexistant or very sparse. Not so with swMenuPro. First of all, almost every part of it is easy to understand or documented with a tool tip. Second, the forums are easy to search and give solid advice. Third, Sean knows Joomla and code hacks are liberal in the forums. Fourth, response is fast, fast, fast. Spend the money, encourage this great support level.

D4J TransMenu
Ok in Firefox, offset in Explorer, October 15, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

D4J TransMenu It works nicely in Firefox. For IE 6, you have to fiddle with the CSS to get submenus in the right position. You have to plow through the forums to find this out.

swMenuMaker
Great software, great support!, October 15, 2007

swMenuMaker One of the few components with a detailed support pdf. It works in both Firefox browsers and Explorer, without having to tweak anything to get submenus to line up, as opposed to some other menu systems I tried. The free version only lets you modify one single menu, and only has 2 different menu systems, but the pro version is cheap for the price, and lets you make menus to your hearts content. You can have solid colors or images for backgrounds, change fonts, borders, colors of everything, etc. Plus, it gives you the choice of saving these on each page, or in an external style sheet, and why each method is good/bad. You can start with their options and get something functional immediately, or modify extensively. Plus, it's the only system I have found so far that lets you have a submenu that floats to the left, on a right side menu.
