SectionEx
 A must have extension!, February 28, 2008
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:

SectionEx Core SECTION LIST LAYOUTS are poorly done in Joomla 1.5 and this definitely makes up for it. While I have quibbles with a certain effusiveness in function and wordage, (the developer is not of the parsimony of Hemmingway :) the component can be customized to meet any need.

You can set parameters to make simple lists of categories in a section or all the way up to elaborately expansive tables. This is a must for any publisher speed demon as you can view the categorization (and relationship) of all your articles and then drill down into their content all from one page. This way you can render a page that can encompass an entire section of a site without having to first bother with highly granular menu definitions.

It's far better than a site map (as you don't need to over invest time in menus) and you see all the articles. This feature and functionality should be in the core product. Version 1.5.0.8 is the best yet.

Well done Robert!

Joomla 1.5 Sitemap
Pretty good start, November 30, 2007

Joomla 1.5 Sitemap This component does what it says like it says, which is wonderful for my needs.
Pros:
* if you need a starting point on how to develop your own component, the simplicity of this thing makes it easy to follow
* excellent for a beginner web builder like myself
* good way to produce a site document reference (cut and paste screen to word for example)
Cons:
* need to be aware that it shows everything even those registered and special things even though the front-end is not logged in. Provided you have enabled proper security elsewhere that's fine.
* may not want to let your users see it, until you massage it some. (I like to hide my warts and stuff.)

Attachments for content articles
 Works like a charm, November 29, 2007

Attachments for content articles I was trying to develop my 1.5RC3 site without using any legacy modules for document support i.e. no DOCMAN. This attachment facility is really really well done.
Only minor issues were found. When authoring a document you don't know you have this feature until you start to save the article. But once you use it you are impressed. Also it needs a small hack for the spelling of begginning (sic).
But when you use it you really get that Eureka feeling! Well done Paul.
