BSQ Sitestats
 Great component, July 12, 2006

I must confess I have not tried any other stats components, but as far as I'm aware BSQ is pretty much the only one you'll need. Very straight-forward to install and get running, just install the component and whichever modules you want. You can of course choose which modules you publish and to what level.

I was looking for an extension that would show "top domain referrer", and this fits the bill perfectly.

I had to do a couple of modifications to the programming and such, and Brent was VERY quick to reply to questions on the support forum, so support is really good as well, which makes this a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED component to install.

JCE
 Looking good, June 30, 2006

JCE I haven't had too much opportunity to play around with this yet, but it looks very powerful.

Actually the main reason for writing this review was to correct the guy before me, who said that this component was no longer free. That is incorrect. The component itself is still free, however support for users is now on a subscription basis, due to the developers high cost of bandwidth, which seems fair enough to me.

The support for streaming video plus the image manager makes this a HUGE step up from TinyMCE editor. Highly recommended.

Regarding installation issues - it took me a while to get Joomla to recognise JCE as my new editor of preference. Strangely enough after I'd set it as default in global preferences, unpublished both standard editors and checked that configuration.php noted that the editor was indeed JCE, Joomla was still showing TinyMCE (even though I'd unpublished it). The only resolution was to individually go into user menu, select myself, and set default editor that way. I don't believe this is a bug on JCE's part, but rather Joomla.

Mod HTML - Google Adsense Module
The simple things always work the best, June 29, 2006
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

This is an incredibly handy module for anyone's site, particularly if you are trying to insert Google's Adsense or some other similar Javascript or HTML code and want it appropriately placed.

So incredibly simple and tiny (it's about 2k), this Godsend of a module works straight out of the box, leaving developers and website builders alike able to deal with the real issues at hand.

Highly recommended.

VERY VERY GOOD, June 20, 2006

This is a GREAT component. It automatically installs the mambot side of things and handles almost everything for you.

I had a couple of jiggles when first installing it, so make sure you visit their website and read properly the sections titled "Missing Galleries" and "Publishing Galleries", otherwise just make sure when you select the options you complete EVERYTHING as default leaves some sections empty (and it won't work if they are left blank).

The beautiful thing about this component is that its an insert into actual content, which for starters means you can put in a mini gallery right in the middle of your content. However better than this is the fact that you can have "time release" or specific publishing dates for your images/galleries. This is a must have if you run a visual/picture based website which requires constant feed of new content, but you can't be doing it daily.

Thanks to this little plug-in I'll be able to setup my website with a lot of "future" galleries (and do all the hard work now), and then sit back and watch it "update itself" for the next couple of months.

LinX - Reciprocal link exchange component (SEO)
 Has potential, June 20, 2006

LinX - Reciprocal link exchange component (SEO) This component has some good potential, I like the feature that it can check for you to make sure link exchange partners are still linking back to you etc.

However at this stage it's still in its early stages and therefore has a few bugs that need to be ironed out. The one I've come across will come up with an error if you try to insert a link for a site which is ALREADY linking back to your site.

There appears to be good support in the forums though, I'm looking forward to the kinks being fixed and new extra goodies put in!
