Needed to extent the User Permissions for a school web site and at first I was a little fearful of this application based on the most recent reviews. After trying all of the others and not wanting to spend a large amount of money for a program to do this task, I finally broke down and installed JACLPlus. What a 'sweetheart' application doing just what I needed with just a slightly higher then expected learning curve to get it to function properly. Once I got over the 'hump' it was smooth sailing and was able to provide to my client something they wanted yet not native to the Joomla system. Lastly, it was all done without one forum post for assistance, FAQ reading or email support. Not bad when you consider that I have this Joomla install residing on a Windows 2003 IIs server. Now if all of the other installs played this nice, my days would be a whole lot shorter behind this machine. Thanks for a wonderful and well designed application doing what I believe the core Joomla system should offer out of the box!

As a photo gallery, Mydyngallery offers almost everything you would find in other ‘full feature’ galleries as well as features and effects that up till now required several different plugins to generate. The biggest drawback with this version (1.4.1) I experienced was the mixed language barrier between the French to English translation. Where most of the Admin options were translated through the en_US.mo file the ‘Settings’ options did not translate, as well as the ‘Admin Component’ menus. With the help of iGoogle Translator I was able to work my way around these language obstacles and make adjustments within the installer .xml file and core programming code. Much the same issues were experienced when seeking documentation assistance at the programs web site. It’s in French and some of the demo examples would not translate. Now for our French speaking friends, this is not a problem and I’m sure a welcomed experience, but for me, it was tough to get my hands around this application initially because of the language barrier.

That being said, overall Mydyngallery is an excellent photo gallery application that bridges functionally and eye candy into a nice package with lots of options and special effects to choose from. Side note: Don’t expect the thumbnail special effects to function until you download the eight JavaScript files from netzgesta.de (bevel.js, reflex.js, edge.js, corner.js, glossy.js, instant.js, slided.js & filmed.js) and upload them to your hosting server (components/com_mydyngallery/plugin). Conversely, in order for the English translation to take effect you will need to make sure that your Global Configuration language is set to english and the Country Locale is set to en_US. Receiving email assistance and feedback from the developer was helpful in getting Mydyngallery up and running on my web site. Thanks Jerome!

Sometimes great applications come in small packages and Tell A Friend is clearly one of these applications. After getting the lastest up-date that fixed an IE browser issue, this program worked flawlessly! Great application, outstanding support and a must have module for just about any site. I don't believe the rating, 'Excellent' is high enough for this plugin. It installed into my version of Mambo (4.5.3h)with no problem, it came with more then enough instructions in the 'bot' to get me started and within moments after the install, I was adjusting the size and quality of the viewable thumbnails...OUTSTANDING! The use of this 'bot' is just about endless and I see many ways of incorporating it into my sports web site. Once again...THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
