Having checked out the commenting systems available in the Extensions section of this site. I decided to check out Jom Comment. I used Jom Comment's site to see how it functions, and I was impressed. It had everything I wanted and included an effective captcha based spam protection system - something which is, alas, essential nowadays.

I went ahead and bought Jom Comment pro. It installed without problems and was up and running in no time, adding another level of interactivity to my site. The 'real-time' publication of comments through the use of Ajax technology is very good. Not only does it look impressive, but it also saves load on the server, which means Jom Comment probably pays for itself on sites with active users in no time at all.

I throughly recommend this component and hope that it continues to get better and better, although it does not really need too many bells and whistles for it to do its job.

Fantastic little add-on. Should get some advertisers tempted to run a campaign on your site. All goes towards covering the running costs!!

Having used XAMPP in the past, I decided to give this a go. XAMPP is great, but installs more bells and whistles than I need. I just wanted a stand alone local installation for development purposes. JSAS seems to be just the job. It even installs a recent version of Joomla! - 1.0.8

Now I can experiment to my hearts content without messing up my 'live' site. This can only be good news!
