Header Image Module
 A vital Joomla component, September 28, 2007

Header Image Module This component is superb. If you need to create 'by page' banners, or banner rotations, it is perfect. The file selection process can take a few mins to get your head around (based around the menu/content/component id) but once you master this it is a powerful module that we use on almost all of our sites. The Mootools banner rotation is a great feature as well.

 HTML nightmare, July 5, 2006

Whilst the component is currently one of the best around (there's not much choice), the separation of content and layout is terrible. The amount of hardcoded attributes for HTML tags is staggering. Colours are also hard coded in several places. Furthermore, the nesting of tables/divs is poor and won't validate.

I've mananged to get this looking how I want through a lot of effort. Numerous table borders, make a lot of layouts look incorrect and you can play with it for a long time to get it looking right.

It's 'fine' if you like your products 'out the box', but if you want to customise it, you'll be wanting to rewrite theme.php and template.html before you start.
