Ravenswood Joomla Server

I have to say, this is has to be the extension of the century compared to all others. Being a web designer, this allows me to work independently on my own machine (and without internet connection) for client sites before going live with any site. Simply and purely awesome guys!

Bookmark Us
 Firefox....NOT, May 28, 2007

First, the good news: It does work by bookmarking sites and of course the page (which is a nice feature as well).

Now for the bad news: Never claim it works in firefox when it loads the site into the sidebar. NO ONE to this day has ever been able to conquer that issue with firefox or other mozilla browsers (or that I know of). The people who should solve that are the mozilla people themselves. Why they have not fixed this issue is beyond the typical website owners who use bookmarking scripts.

This is a module that does indeed bookmark sites (and pages) but it is not fully functional for mozilla browsers. Whoever designs one that does work, they will be famous!

FireBoard Forum Being a web designer and specializing in joomla sites, I have to say hats off to this Fireboard component! By far my favorite and guess what...NO BRIDGES!! It may not match up to vBulletin but it still packs a decent integrated option for those not wanting to deal with bridging forum scripts. You guys might want to consider working towards a commercial pro version that can compete with the likes of vbulletin. I'd definitely pay for it.

AlphaContent 3.0.4 Ajax rating system included
Just what I was Looking for, May 15, 2007

AlphaContent 3.0.4 Ajax rating system included I have to say, this component is just what I was looking for when designing a site for a client. I am using this for something other than simply displaying content as a directory and it's something that is quite flexible actually. To be honest, I would like to see a commercial level version of this to be used as an actual site directory that could compete against others like mosets. I see here it has the modules icon in the extentions at joomla, but I didn't see any when I installed the component...did I miss something here? I will have to look again. The component does have a copyright line that shows up in the page and know many will want that removed. However, I think what VisualClinic should do is offer a couple options:

(1) Free version with copyright there
(2) Paid version without (not by optional donation either)

I'd still like to see a commercial level directory be made by VisualClinic with more features. I'd definitely purchase it.

WysiwygPro 3, advanced WYSIWYG editor
It has it's moments, but...., November 28, 2006

WysiwygPro 3, advanced WYSIWYG editor After making the purchase and using it for awhile and seeing some cool things in it, I did start to find things that need attention by the makers.

Pro's - it has a pretty decent document management for finding and linking to things in your page or site. It also has a fairly decent image manager as well which is why I originally got this for my joomla CMS.

Con's - As I have used this, I seem to come across either missing features that free editors like JCE have. For example, if you need a link to do a popup window, you cannot set parameters for the popup window; this one is only for a straight up full window. Another is if you create a module, the editor is squished off to the right side, so a fix for this is to do a setting in the mambot as "Fixed". Another is that the editor does not wrap code, nor does it have a feature to click to do that. I did find out any pages of the mambot inside the /mambots/editors/wysiwygpro/ directory turns out to be accessible in a browser, despite it being in the joomla CMS which one for the /mambots/editors/wysiwygpro/image.php showed my complete folder structure of site, page, graphics and images (I've informed them of this). Another is that if you use the snippits feature, the editor puts in tags after each line on its own (which I also informed them and they acknowledged with saying, do the code all on one line for the time being). There are more I can say here, but overall, I think for what this mambot has in it, or I should say what it doesn't have compared to say JCE as an example, the price does not justify it. The only one thing that stands out is the document and image manager which is a bit better than the free editors. But thats pretty much it.

ArtBannersPlus 1.4
 Very nice...except..., November 15, 2006

ArtBannersPlus 1.4 Out of all the banner options here, this one is the better one. However, what I would love to see is the ability to display banner ads according to content items and not just restricted to Categories only. If you want to display different banners for different content items (articles) that all exist in the same category, it would be a nice feature.

Not for me, November 9, 2006

Well...I was excited at first but the image goes in content just fine as a thumb but it doesn't have the ability to click on it to view the full size. Long story short, it didn't work for me. I tried for an hour to get this thing to work and double check I had everything configured correctly -- which I did.
