A must have if you use Zoom Gallery, October 17, 2006 |

If you use Zoom Gallery to hold your pictures then this is a great plugin to have. ZoomCat will display thumbnails of ALL pictures from a Gallery. However, Zoomthumb lets you display them individually - very convenient to be able to automatically create thumbnails (with captions, styling, etc) from your gallery for your content items and have them popup fullsize in a Zoom Gallery window that allows scrolling through the source gallery.
I did have one problem with this on IE (not Firefox). If your popup links don't work in IE see the edit to moszoomthumb.class.php in the SourceForge forum.

Endless possibilities for this..., October 12, 2006 |

One of the best content plugins available. With further extension of the image library there are almost limitless possibilities for making highly flexible text and graphics elements.
Keep up the great work guys and graphics designers please consider contributing to the library!
Install tip: From the image download packages, pick the image sets for each color you want to use and put them directly in: mambots/content/styleboxop/images/

Excellent Gadgets for any Joomla site..., October 10, 2006 |
...just don't be put off if you have had a little trouble getting some of them working. The thumbnails, gallery, infobox, tabber, tooltips, contentbox, accordion and quotes should work "out of the box".
However, note that Imagetitle and Textimage require the PHP gd extension enabled AND will NOT work if you use Joomla Xplorer to extract the _jgfw_ folder on your Joomla root. You must use Cpanel or ftp to extract or upload file by file.
Hope this helps those who've had difficulty getting these working! This is a brilliant toolset and very ripe for further extension and customization!

Simplest form creation extension!, September 1, 2006 |

perForms is easily the simplest free form creation component available. Facile Forms is considerably more powerful (complex scripting, etc) but takes a lot longer to build simple forms with.
A v2 is on the way but the currently downloadable beta release has a bug in it which is easily fixed. See http://forge.joomla.org/sf/go/projects.performs/discussion.performs.topc3915
A stable 1.1.1 version is also out.
One thing that would be great to see integrated into any future online form components is the ability to upload a file.

Acajoom News
Easily the best newsletter component!, July 26, 2006 |
By far the best newsletter component available and actually raises the bar significantly for component design overall (other component developers should check out the install process, wizard assistance, complete tooltip explanations, etc). It also seems everything you could want in terms of functionality and flexibility has been thought of and then implemented in the simplest and most effective way.
That this quality of solution is freely available is quite amazing. Apart from a lot of gratitude for all the thought and work put into this, I think the developer will obtain excellent commercial prospects for future joomla projects.
Well done!

Almost there...needs a couple of improvements, July 25, 2006 |
A very well designed, bug free and intuitive backup component. However, in the next iteration it needs to resolve one major problem: the file system backup always timeouts once my joomla site got over about 5mb compressed (through adding components). Hence, I now do file system backups through joomlaxplorer in two parts.
Also, a database restore function is needed as this is the part of a site restore that is most prone to fail - especially if restoring with a different method to how the backup was made. (The safest way is to use the same program for restoring as made the database backup). I now use ebackup to backup and restore my database.

Would be great if only bugs were fixed..., July 20, 2006 |
Have just installed latest version 0.6.1 on Joomla 1.0.10. As mentioned in the first post, there are critical bugs (some that have been outstanding since Jan 2006 - see forge tracker) that make this newsletter completely unusable.
If they were fixed, this looks like it would be an excellent newsletter component. Would be good if the developer updated the community on the development status before this gets delisted again.
