just an iframe, May 3, 2008

sorry, i did tried it but as i thought its a simple mod with an iframe to capture remote address at the authors site.
it may look nice but then you have to rely on a remote source and thats something i dont like.

DOCman
docman is losing it, May 3, 2008

DOCman sorry but i cant be that positive like the rest here.
i tried to install it for a friend on a 1.5.3 and willing to use it with legacy.
but it wouldnt install.
all i got was errors saying i have to make my root writable and some admin folder as well.
huh..?..not in a million years.
With joomla's 1.5 i was happy that we didnt have to touch the folders anymore, which is safer.
But docman goes his own way,and thats the wrong way.
installed another component instead.

SEF Advance
 in just one word.....`great`, April 5, 2008

SEF Advance I finally decided to buy the SEF advanced for my joomla 1.5 site.
Tried a few alternatives but at the end i wasnt happy with it so i ended up at sakic.
Install was easy and simple, same goes for the configuration.
But my site had a few weird settings that resulted in a few bad links.
Emir of sakic was kind enough to spend some time on my site solving it..
Im my joomla period i've spend about 500 dollars upto now buying template subscriptions and commercial components.
As a customer were not always fully satisfied with support but the majority is doing a good job on support.
I am realy impressed with emir's help.

ARTIO JoomSEF
Bought it but support is dead., March 1, 2008
3 of 3 people find this review helpful:

ARTIO JoomSEF I decided to pay the 30+ euro as i didnt wanted to advertise their so called sponsors.
It does pisses me off that your not notified of this and that without knowing your serving their ads.

I did however expected some support but i didnt received absolutely no reply on my mail.

I can remember long ago when i started using artio the author was available on the forums to help but sometimes complained that all was still free.
I said at that time if we would receive proper support and a good working sef i would pay 25 euro for it..
And damn....thats what he did as it seems.
One minor detail,he killed the support.

 to bad, February 5, 2008

To bad the author doesnt follow up any feedback on bugs and problems, thats how it looks anyway on his forums where the topics with no replies are growing.
I installed his component and was very happy as it looked great and was what i was looking for.
BUT..thats about it.
As its now (using joomla 1.0.1.3) visitors cannot even use the form as nothing is send after submitting ,only when your logged in as member the form will actualy send its collected information.
So that makes it a bit useless to me.

AutoStand
Slow on debuggin, January 13, 2008
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:

AutoStand I was able to try the previous paid version as well as the free version.
The component looks good and could be usefull to people but has a few minor points.
Both versions have a bug.
The mail function (if someone is interested in a vehicle) isnt working.
Its mentioned on their forum as well but not fixed as you will notice when you download the free version.
And they are already working on a newer version while other bugs haven't been solved yet.

PDF Indexer
address of PDF's not secured, November 3, 2007
0 of 1 people find this review helpful:

PDF Indexer Ok time to review this one.
I bought it a few months ago and was pleased with it as i use a lot of pdf files.
It does indexes well but i did discover a big security problem.
When people use the search and find contents from your pdf it shows exactly where the files are.
The address isnt hidden is any way.

I contacted the author asking him to take care of this.
He said .."that shouldnt be to difficult to do"..

But still nothing happend.
Next excuse was that were some changes in his private life and i said...ok i will wait.

Long time after that...same excuse..
Nothing is happening.

So its very disapointing that some authors dont take complaints serious, not even with commercial components.....in this case anyway.

EventList
 lot missing, November 3, 2007

EventList well i needed a calendar or something like that.
i tried eventlist but was bugged by the venue.

Like another member said.. "Venue to be optional, and/or to enable one-off venues as well as pre-entered ones."

Seems to me that whenever you use functions you should give users the choice to turn it off.
so..i unstalled it again and used anouther component.

Sigsiu Online Business Index 2 (SOBI 2)
 no import, October 29, 2007

Sigsiu Online Business Index 2 (SOBI 2) Installed it,tried it, and looks great.
However it may sound positive i did gave it average.
Reason is :lack of response on demand.
As i was searching and hoping that it would include some way to import from mosets (look-a-like) i found myself disapointed.
Why should anyone go from mosets to sobi2 is a personal choice, but besides that...you cannot because there is no way of importing your data.
I was surprised to see after searching that more people requested it,and that was months ago,and replies after that weren't answered.
And as of this day there is no import function,to go from mosets to sobi2.

Account Expiration Control - Membership Manager
it cant get any better .., October 4, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

Account Expiration Control - Membership Manager This component is realy amazing..
I finally decided to use it.
But i was uncertain of the settings so i asked the author if he could help me with it and that was very impressive.
He installed it,did the settings as i wanted it and now i have a professional area where subscribers are automatically taken care of...i can just sit back and watch the money come in :)
That this is free is beyond me,and his support is amazingly fast.
