SimplePin - A Pinboard for Joomla
 A nice idea., May 18, 2007

SimplePin - A Pinboard for Joomla Reviewing the free component v1.0.

This is a fun idea but needs some work before it's ready for a production site.

1. The notes can appear partially off screen.

2. Although clicking the pin hides the note, the pin can be over another note. It would be useful to be able to drag the pin to move the notes around.

3. And when the background colour is clicked in edit mode it changes the note colour but clicking on the pin has no visual confirmation. In fact the pin can be dragged onto the note and the javascript code is inserted. This will confuse the average user.

4. Lastly, the notes can only be edited in the backend. Users should be able to edit and remove their notes.

So, overall, this component is ready to run on a home network but not for any of my clients.

SmoothGallery + Lightbox Joomla Mambot Ajax

SmoothGallery + Lightbox Joomla Mambot Ajax I followed the instructions and it worked immediately.

I love the way it reads the IPTC directly from the image file. Saves me heaps of time.

 A good start, October 16, 2006

A little disappointed. This was almost exactly what I wanted but it does not remove the {mos} tags from the content in the feeds. Otherwise it does what it says.

Sectionnav
Automatic section menus, August 23, 2006

This is exactly what I was looking for. No more adding menu items manually.

It even works brilliantly with CSS flyouts (no javascript required). Worked immediately from the install file into Joomla 1.0.10.

I've even successfully used this as a Category menu by using CSS to hide the section headings. The CSS tagging is great.

If you know CSS, you can really make this module excel.
