 Very Nice! Wish it was 1.5 native!!, August 29, 2008

FireBoard Forum I installed and configured Fireboard in about 5 minutes. It's very user-friendly if you're familiar with Joomla and especially if you've worked with VirtueMart or another complex component/module/plugin system.

One thing I REALLY like is the fact that you can set it to pick up the styling from your site template so it automatically matches!

I really wish it was 1.5 native though... hopefully there's a 1.5 native version in the works.

ImageSlideShow Super easy to install and configure! The module options are very simple and logical. It rotates between pics very smoothly AND it has no conflict that I can see with javascript libraries like some other modules do.

Someone mentioned that it only works well on very small images because it pre-loads all the images. I haven't experienced any problem with that. I'm using it to rotate (8) 960x200 header images (50k JPGs) and it loads em up quickly.

It is only possible to link all the images to one URL. Because of that, it's not suitable for rotating ads that link to various other sites. Not a big deal in my case.

RokSlideshow This is one STELLAR slideshow module!

Easy to install

Easy to configure

lightweight and reliable - works with any template/menu!

... and one of the best looking fades out there! Most of the other slideshow modules don't really "fade". Instead, they assume you're site has a white background and blow out the previous photo to white, which creates the illustion of 2 photos fading into each other. RokSlideshow actually fades the images together. One gets transparent while the other gets more opaque. It looks gorgeous and opens the possibility for some neat tricks like giving the illusion that only type is changing over a static background.

Global News This module should be integrated into the Joomla! core!! This module gives you MUCH greater flexibility on how you handle "latest news" items on your pages. 4.5 stars!!

The only complaint I have is that there seems to be no way to modify the position of the date (I want it on top of the title). But heck, that's minor! I only deducted half a star!
