JM ajax popup
 Instructions needed, December 3, 2007

JM ajax popup I'm sure this would be a nice and useful module if I could get it to work. There are no instructions for beginners. I assigned the module to a new and empty module position. I added the new position to my template - and I get a link that pops up a nice but empty window! If I then assign my mp3 player to the same module position "mp3" nothing happens. I see the mp3 player module and I still see the link text and it opens a nice new window but not with the mp3 player module inside of it. I'm sure it will be great to use when the author explains how to use it! The help page - http://extensions.joomlamarket.de/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=60 - does not explain anything. It would really help if authors could give a dummies step by step guide when releasing their great work.

QuickNav 1.7
Good and useful when it works, July 15, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

When I first installed this program it worked and was really useful. Basically, a simple, drop down menu that lists all your other menu items is all you need to jump around a site.

However, it has stopped working possibly conflicting with other installations. The author must be too busy to answer queries or perhaps this one is bottom of the list of priorities because there is no Forum for it on the website?

Anyway, it is really worth while having if you can get it to work.

Mass Content
Effective for importing text only, June 27, 2007

Mass Content At first, I didn't think this Component was going to be much use because I wanted to import a lot of saved html files but in fact it saves a lot of time. I can now do a mass cut and paste job by selecting the correct category first and then I grab the text and paste it, add a title and after 10 pages hit save and start with another ten. What you get in the end is a kind of "dump" of text only pages setup for you to later reformat and add proper titles to when you have time. But at least it gets the content loaded and ready for Google to find.

It only accepts content into the first edit form. A wish would be to have 2 fields where I could add the introductory text and then the "more" text saving even more time. It's rough and ready but it works!

Very nice useful module, June 23, 2007

Nice and easy module that grabs the content from an article and presents it in a CSS configurable popup window that you link to a menu, which avoids your site visitors the irritation of a popup window each time they visit your site homepage. The one feature lacking is a "timer" option which would allow me to tell the pop-up windows to appear only ONCE per visit (via a cookie I imagine?). Otherwise any popup window is irritating if I am forced to see it every time I go to a particular page.

BluEyez Image Rotator
 Nice slideshow, June 19, 2007

BluEyez Image Rotator This module creates a very nice rotating slideshow applying a variety of effects at random. It would have got excellent, except for the fact that the full size image pop-up opens in a new window rather than a nice effect and for some strange reason you have to put your image files in images/stories/fruit! With those 2 changes it would get an excellent.

Easy Gallery
It is easy!, June 19, 2007

Easy Gallery This is the simplest and most straightforward image gallery I have found so far. It does not have too many bells and whistles.

It managed to upload all the images from a folder without the chore of manual entry into an xml file. You can assign an image as a category icon. One good point is that you can easily add detailed information to a foto. I think the image pop-up could be nicer and I should be able to open the full size image without having to use the enlarge/reduce button.

A fast way to create albums.

One strange error is that I cannot see the list of categories in the backend even though they have been created.

Couloir Slideshow Gallery Ajax Module v1.0.3.2
Good but not supported anymore, June 19, 2007

Couloir Slideshow Gallery Ajax Module v1.0.3.2 Apparently the author is not supporting this program any more.
It worked brilliantly Offline but as soon as I uploaded it I got "Warning: getimagesize() [function.getimagesize]: Read error! " errors which I have not been able to fix. I tired it on another Joomla installation with the same result. I think it has more to do with server PHP than the program itself??

The great thing about it is that the slideshow image is downsized proportionately on the fly and the a lightbox popup shows the true size.

JoomlaMindmap
Very nice but no SEO, May 31, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

JoomlaMindmap I tested this program some time ago and it worked very well before I installed SEO scripts. I can still see the site structure but the program is reading the old style numerical urls instead of the new user-friendly ones created by the SEO program and consequently I can't use the link to locate the linked file! So for site visitors the program is only useful when you have SEO OFF. Otherwise it will confuse them into thinking your site is broken. Apart from that it is a very nice alternative way of viewing site content. Can't wait for an SEO version.

Sociable
Css needs sorting, May 10, 2007

It would be exactly what I need but I agree with the other review that It should only go in content articles NOT modules. It also destroyed the formatting on my page by pushing elements to the right off the page. A bit more testing and better CSS positioning that does not interfere with other DIVs and it will be an essential tool.

ionFiles
OK so far, March 27, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

This will be good when I can browse for a file and when the program will automatically populate the Administration form. At the moment it takes ages just to register one file. The end result looks nice but there are other extensions that do a quicker job. So next stage is to make it easy to upload a file perhaps with drag and drop or at least File/Browse instead of having to work out the full url manually.

Don't mean to be negative - I'm sure it will be top notch in the end!
