YOOiecheck
 Excellent tool!, June 6, 2008

YOOiecheck In our constant battle to use the latest and greatest, what holds us back is user adoption of technology. People get comfortable with what works and are not provided with incentives to upgrade. This tool serves as a gentle reminder when visiting your high-speed, low-drag site, that things might not look too pretty on your IE6 anymore (did it ever?)

I'm not a big fan of the huge half-page pop-ups telling you that that particular site looks better in FF. They're just gawdy. This one is nice and subtle. Two thumbs waaaaaay up!

YOOmaps
Google Maps the easy way..., March 22, 2008

YOOmaps An excellent little module for placing Google Maps on your site.

I have tried many, including just doing it by hand using Google's API, but this one makes it extremely simple!

Definitely recommended!

eQuotes
 Most excellent!, March 8, 2008

eQuotes Have used this extension on my site for a while, works like a charm!

Still sticking out for a 1.5 version though.

Keep up the great work!

PDA mambot
PDA the simple way..., January 29, 2008

I downloaded this not expecting it to do much. I was pleasently surprised at how efficient the plugin is. Works like a charm in J!1.5 Stable! Just install and publish. Very much a Fire-and-Forget Plugin.

The template is just a catch-all type template which is easily modified to your needs. Definately a good base to start with.

Highly recommended!

FireBoard Forum
 Exactly what I needed..., April 22, 2007
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

FireBoard Forum I needed a board for a site that worked. Just worked. The owner of the site requested it to be easy that a monkey with rocks could manage it. This board headed the call. Simple, clean, works fine for me.

I have yet to run into any problems and got a pretty quick response to my request for Joom!Fish files.

GMaps 1.2
Definately keep your eye on this one..., February 24, 2007

GMaps 1.2 After a bit of a hiccup with the install (I know it can't be perfect, it's BETA) I got this puppy up and running.

It has excellent potential, although even in its BETA stage it is already useful enough to put on production websites. I would tag this extension as a definite favorite and keep my eye on its progress.

NOTE: The developers website is blocked in China. Find another way to get to his site... an*cough*ony*cough*miz*cough*ers.

jReviews : Reviews / Ratings / Directories
Worth the money..., February 22, 2007

jReviews : Reviews / Ratings / Directories At first I shyed away from this component, because of the price. I opted to try other components that were free.

After sacrificing my hairline against the battle of bad code (and losing the war, I might add) I decided to give this a spin and downloaded the trial version.

Not only is everything in here (and even more than what I needed) to set up your very own Directory and Reviews, but the support is simply incredible.

Within minutes (yes, LITERALLY minutes) of posting a question, I had responses that were either useful or requesting more info to get to the bottom of my problem. The author even took a look at my back-end himself to save time (which it did) then explained what the problem was after solving it (again, within minutes).

The component and the support definately makes this component worth the money you pay for it.

Cheers!

Plugin Googlemaps
 Very useful..., February 22, 2007

Plugin Googlemaps An excellent plugin. Everything you need, minus everything you don't.

Sure though, documentation is sparse and requires a lot of reading from other sources as well as the authors website, but hey, are we that lazy?

Excellent plugin. Great work!

Joom!Fish - multilingual content manager
 The FISH!!!, January 9, 2007

Joom!Fish - multilingual content manager The only way that should be allowed to do a multi-lingual website. OK, that might be overstating but it certainly should be considered.

Right, it's not all fun and games, by no means is it a "complete" mod, in which you "fire and forget". In order to have it work with other mods you must find / download or create your own .xml files, but it's pretty simple following their guides and looking at ones already done.

I really can't see it being easier than it already is. Running a site with 3 different languages couldn't be easier to do, I think.

P.S. I'm not considering the translators. My experience with those things are that they get the general idea across, but when you're trying to look professional, "Spanglish" or "Chinglish" auto-translations don't cut the mustard.

Expose Flash Gallery
 A Most Excellent Gallery..., January 4, 2007
1 of 2 people find this review helpful:

Expose Flash Gallery When I was looking for a Gallery, none of the others caught my attention as to what I wanted on my site. The demo page certainly got my attention. True, it's a bit futzy with requirements and stuff, but what do you expect from something that looks and works this good?

Works fine if you're hosted of GoDaddy, even pretty easy to change background color and component size (instructions are in the forums). Even on my site that has three different languages, worked fine.

Definately something to have if your server meets the requirements, looks a treat!
