MovableType XML-RPC Plugin
 What?!?, June 20, 2008

MovableType XML-RPC Plugin The whole site is in Japanese. This sounds like a module I'd very much like to use, but I'm not totally sure it is what I think it is, as the English is not so good and I don't understand Japanese.

I downloaded the Joomla 1.0.15 version and there are two .zip files in it - one of which doesn't get recognized as a Mambot, a Module, or a Component. Since the publisher didn't use any convention to denote what it's supposed to be, I had to try each one only to find that it doesn't work as any of them - I have no choice but to assume the package is broken.

Apparently there's some files I have to overwrite, but I'm not totally sure which ones and what folder they're in.

I'm sure this has great potential, but it doesn't work for me.

Ircmaxell's Page Cache
 OK. . ., April 6, 2007

Ircmaxell's Page Cache It does speed things up, but as the description says, only for non-registered users.

Also, it waits for a page hit to renew the cache - so one of your users will have to wait quite a bit longer than others.

The speed increase (IMHO) isn't very noticeable either - at least not over the normal Joomla! caching. IMO it's not worth giving one of my users a much longer load time, especially because it does this for each page. 4-5 seconds to a broadband user seems unusual, and having to wait this long for each page visited is a pain (especially when a page load using the normal Joomla! cache takes about 1 second).

This could be great if it didn't wait for a page hit to refresh the queue - or if at the very least it refreshed all pages when it did a refresh. When the site's in the cache, it all loads very fast, but as soon as it expires from cache, the site seems to drag.

It has potential, but it sure needs work.

Mamblog
 Works great, February 2, 2007

Mamblog I haven't used this for long but it seems to work great - not only can you have blogs for multiple users, but you can also add comments, change styles, etc.

One word of warning - the version linked to here is NOT the most up-to-date. I had to look around a bit for the most up-to-date version.

Nice, but requires modification, January 5, 2007

It's nice, and it works well, but only if you turn on RG_EMULATION.

Fiji Tagbot
 Doesn't work with Mamblog, January 4, 2007

Fiji Tagbot This add-on is supposed to work with Mamblog, however it's not working with it, either when I set it to do this automatically or when I do it manually by inserting the tags into my article.

It works with any other article, but I don't want that. It'd be wonderful if only this feature worked properly.

SocioTag 1.4
Works everywhere but where it should, January 4, 2007

SocioTag 1.4 This add-on is supposed to work with Mamblog, which is what I want - for people to be able to tag all my blog articles.

It can add the tags everywhere - except on my Mamblog posts, which is just what I don't want.

It's great if you want tags on all your articles, but not if you want to restrict it to certain ones (unless you do it manually for each article - and even then it won't work for Mamblog articles). It would be great if it worked with Mamblog like it's supposed to.

For the record, I tried both this and Tagbot, both had this problem.
