JCE Discuss Bot, Image Upload Problems, August 18, 2006

It has been awhile since this component has been updated, and there are definately some problems that need to be resolved since 1.1.2. Even on the developer's page, you cannot upload an image (I am having same problem).

To make this component more compatible with the JCE editor, I created a DiscussBot Plugin for JCE. The new JCE icon says "Forum Link" instead of a Mambo Logo, and I have translated it to English and fixed a problem with the pop-up window size.

You can find the new DiscussBot at the homepage for this component inside their forums (search "JCE").

Acajoom News
Compatibility Problems with Community Builder, August 17, 2006

Acajoom News I like this component, and I hope that some work goes into it to make it 100% compatible with Community Builder. I ended up having to disable the program because people would SUBSCRIBE to the newsletter, and then click on their REGISTER link, which would take them to the Joomla registration instead of the Community Builder registration. But, they are working fast and furious over there and I hope that Community Builder is a priority for this project, because the component seems very powerful.

Attend Events
0.9.0 Under Development with Paypal support, August 3, 2006
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:

I have been using this event registration component very successfully for our club. The documentation is skimpy, but the features are definately there, except for a payment system, which is currently under development in the 0.9.0 build (currently at prototype stage, but downloadable).

When installing v1 of the software, you have to unzip the installation package first, and then install the zip file within the zip file. If you just try to install the package without unzipping it will fail.

Here is the feature list from the install screen:
- Unlimited input fields
- Choose between 8 field types
- Form to mail function
- Creats for each form seperate database tables
- Field validations
- Custom error messages
- Custom help messages for each field
- Report page for viewing the records in the table
- Basic templating system

I have tried Facile forms but found it way too complex for most of my clients. This is really EASY to use. Just click on NEW, and write your INTRO text and your THANKS text. Then click on ITEMS and add your items, and order them. Finally, click on PREVIEW to see your form. If you want to attach the fields into a database, click on DATABASE after you open the form.

JCE
A little buggy, but still the best, April 26, 2006

JCE A couple of bugs: The new menu system doesn't display on multiple lines when using the DocMan front end.

With IE, it sometimes fails to load completely, but I haven't had problems with FireFox.

Joomap
 Version 2.01 is out - March 19 2006, March 23, 2006

Joomap The new version is beautiful. It automatically generates a google sitemap, and allows css customization of joomla sitemap directly from the component backend.

Drawbacks: I have not been able to get multi-column to work yet, but I may need to do more tinkering. Also, it only includes virtuemart CATEGORIES, not products. It would be nice if it did products, at least for the google sitemap. Maybe this can be done with a plugin.
