AutoStand
Great Component for Admin, but..., December 12, 2006
1 of 2 people find this review helpful:

AutoStand With this particular component, it meets most of the requirements for a down-and-dirty way for a used car dealer to get his small lot on the web.

But lacks a bit in being free from a couple of buggy issues that might be a concern for those not familiar-- read: car salesman that just wants to sell cars, not become fluent in work-arounds.

Most notable in the Gallery function of the component, where although very nice on the display/viewer side, very un-intuitive to the point of bordering buggy on the admin side.

In addition, there is no "user" access to the entry of data. From what I've seen, it's all done in the backend of Joomla-- read: car salesman just wants to sell cars, not explain how he/they didn't mean to hit "THAT" button.

Have I missed something? Is there a way to allow limited access to JUST the component in so far as letting the car dealer only work with the portion of the site that deals with Automobile entry/deletion?

For me, if I were to be the individual responsible for updating the site, I would offer 4 out of 5 stars for this Component, and as a free and open-source package, well worth the price. I'm not sure if it is going to work out for my needs, but who knows.
I had started a joomla/autoStand development of my buddy's site with AutoStand, but have put it on hold 'engine-wise' until I get through with further open-source searching (ouch, a bad pun)

It's worth the time to check it out, and the "author/modifier" is pretty responsive to posts at the forum for this package.

Great Mambot for PayPal Buttons, December 1, 2006
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

I have a client that needed to offer PP Buttons for his users to pay for their tournament entries.
Of course, other than some just-shy-of-being-"there" modules, it wasn't possible other than through some kludgy wax-on wax-off with the wysiwyg settings to get button content placed.

this mambot allows you now to successfully do what could not be done before.

thanks!
