BEAUTIFUL!
This is gorgeous. I liked that the PHP and CSS are written simply, and commented nicely - was easy enough to make thumbnails right-aligned, and change the CSS so the UL's were less indented. I think the thumbnail align should be a module option in the backend, but hey-ho!

One problem I found, which REALLY impacted the implementation time, was HTML coding - any text that was bold or italic completely screwed up this module, and it would only show intro text after that text. Other problem, is the bold or italic text breaks the thumbnail!

Overall, an easy-enough to customise, functional module that adds eye candy to your site, in a usable way...

Bear in mind that it picks the thumb from your LAST image in the main text. To change to Intro text images, read hte support forum!

Well, I like it, but I have no control over how many videos show other than having the number of results shown: "small" or "large" - FYI, small seems to show 4 videos.

If I could choose the number of videos, and the number of columns to show them in then this would be a usable YouTube Channel video browser.

As it is, I would suggest it's only really usable if you have very few of your own videos, or you are happy showing videos based on search criteria, with little control over how many show.

I also found that the Video Width setting has no effect - they all seem to show at regular YouTube width.

This is FANTASTIC - might change the way I build Joomla sites forever!

I have used it on a Yoga website, and means that I can include various teacher bio's in any page, and update them in just one place.

At last the claim "Joomla is built on a database so you NEVER have to enter data in two places" is true!

Awesome, does what it promises, and can do case sensitive replacements etc. I use this on a car site to replace 3Dr -> 3 door and 5Dr -> 5 door etc.

Don't forget to download, install and publish the plugin too though...

Well, I needed to teach a client how to put outbound tracking on their links, stumbled across this and my instructions were then "it's done - it's automatic now!"

This plugin adds the appropriate javascript outgoing/www.URL analytics tag to your outgoing links, while cleverly leaving your internal ones intact.

The external link image indicator seemed to have a border around it when I tried it, but I'm sure you could configure this in the CSS, or have the image borders set to zero by default on your site without too much trouble.

I would like to see configuration available for automatic internal file links, such as making internal PDF links tag with pdf/filename.pdf or similar.

FYI, if you use JCE Editor (as anyone with half a brain would ;) then you will find that links are set by default to open in the same window. This overrides the setting this plugin uses to make external links open in a new window by default, so bear in mind that JCE users will not benefit from that feature.

Wow - when my client said they wanted Barclays ePDQ as the only payment method on their Joomla site, my heart sunk. It stayed sunken until I met the guys behind this Payment Component for VirtueMart.

The support for this component is second-to-none - by phone (if you're cheeky like me!) or email and support ticket, they will help you get everything working, including but not limited to actually logging into your Joomla install and amending settings, or rewriting entire php pages for your individual scenario.

The next time a client tells you they don't want PayPal for their site, be confident in recommending VirtueMart, ePDQ and this component!

Fabulous - I didn't know I needed this until I tried it; installation was simple - install the plugin as usual, ensure you've published it and then test! Worked a dream on FireFox on Mac OSX Leopard.


If I could request any improvement, I might ask for a way of having it called in when printing from anywhere in the site, not just Joomla's standard print preview, albeit with CSS etc allowed - it would be useful if only for the list of links it puts in.

Would be nice to have the credits removable from the printouts as an option in the plugin.

Summary: If you ever use external links with tittles which differ from the URL, then you NEED this plugin - if someone prints your item with a link as "click here" it's useless to them. Littering your site with full URLs looks ugly, so let this do the hard work for you and automate visitors' printing of them!

This is GREAT to emulate calendars of content etc, without repeating the dates...

Ideal for school calendars, gig listings etc.

I LOVE that you can turn off times if you like, and it's SO EASY to configure - you'll ahve this up and running in about one minute!

Well, it let me split my menus, and in doing so manage my entire site through just mainmenu, which is a joy!

Now, the menu on the left of my site (Extended Menu, showing mainmenu) shows up the children of the parent link at the top of the site (regular Joomla mainmenu).

You just set it to use split menus, and start at child level 1, not go further than level 1, and only show the children of a particular parent (works by name, and is case sensitive, so remember that if you change the parent menu item names!).

I do then have to go into modules and tell it to only show each Ext Menu on the corresponding page - this is a pain if you are often adding content.

I would LOVE a menu system that automatically picked up the children to show in a split menu depending on which parent item was chosen on another menu... possible? Might be with this if I look hard enough!

Well, it works, eventually!

My first goof was to put an apostrophe in the title of the calendar within the component - this will NOT work with apostrophes in the calendar name!

Once I'd found the right HTML (Google Calendar was having a slow moment, so I had to figure it out manually), and put it all in I eventually got the calendar showing up.

A limitation of Google Calendar (not the component) is that it will only show a month's events in agenda view by default - a pain if you are trying to show school term dates for example - you want everything showing up!

Clicking an event in this opens a new window to give you more info, direct inside Google Calendar - a bit clunky IMHO.

I ended up resorting to using this component, linking on the menu to a blank static content item, and publishing the upcoming GCalendar events module in the inset position. The problem with the module is horrible date formatting (and an overly techy process of changing it), and the date being on a separate line form the event name (might look OK when I have some more events in there though).

Overall, it works, but don't expect to have it perfect in 5 minutes!
