MicroShop PayPal Shopping Cart
 I LOVE! This Component, March 6, 2008

MicroShop PayPal Shopping Cart Works exactly as advertised.

Installation was seamless, product setup was effortless, skipped over forcing my users to register for the site (which Virtuemart currently requires and is completely useless for this site), the interface is completely uncluttered, and I experienced none of the problems that some of the previous reviewers had.

As far as I can tell, most of the complaints are because MicroShop does what it's designed to do, rather than what they wanted it to do.

I recommend it!

Thanks for sharing the component,
Tracy A. Phaup

EasyComments
 What a delicious component!, February 23, 2008

EasyComments I've spent an untold number of hours playing with different components for commenting and I LOVE! EasyComments.

Easy install, clean and lovely administrator interface, clean and attractive display of comments on the website and best of all? W3C compliant (gasp!).

I'm personally getting tired of trying to use components designed by sloppy coders, and it's incredibly refreshing to have one work so beautifully straight out of the box!

Thank you!

JCal Client/JCal Pro (event calendar for Joomla)
This Calendar Rocks!, January 21, 2008

JCal Client/JCal Pro (event calendar for Joomla) After a lot of muss and fuss trying to come up with a calendar solution that would work for me I finally tried JCal and I LOVE IT!!! (Insert additional exclamation points here!)

Installed seamlessly, configured easily and displays beautifully! And all in W3C compliant code! Is that a beautiful thing or what?

Left nothing out for my wish list for future features.

Can't recommend highly enough!

Keep up the good work, and thanks for making this beautiful component available so affordably!

Take care, all, and Happy Joomla-ing,
Tracy

BlogCal 1.6
Dead component and module?, January 4, 2008
1 of 1 people find this review helpful:

BlogCal 1.6 I love this component and module but I started doing some research after it had an unexpected glitch (the glitch of rolling over into the new year and having all of the content from the previous year (2007) disappear from display in the module).

SVTechie hasn't responded to forum requests for support since October of 2006.

Hopefully they either surface, or the forum here has a solution, or there's a comparable component to use.

Hope that helps,
Tracy

Feedburner RSS Email Subscription
Very nice module!, January 3, 2008

Feedburner RSS Email Subscription I definitely get to give this an "excellent" rating!

Was planning on going in (some day ;o) and hard coding the feedburner subscription into the template so it would show on every page - but now I don't have to!

Click, click - easy peasy - add my feed id and the name I want the RSS subscription to go by and I'm done!

Looked around the web site and looks like some other tools are there worth trying, as well.

Thanks for the module!

On a side note: updating the module settings doesn't work in IE; had to use Firefox. Once the settings are updated, the module performs the way it should for users in IE so no worries there.

Hope that helps,

mXcomment v1.0.9
 Beautiful - but non-compliant., January 3, 2008

mXcomment v1.0.9 This is a beautiful component, but unfortunatly produced over 400 W3C errors for transitional XHMTL 1.0 when I installed it.

Looking forward to future editions, though.

Thanks for the continued great work.
Tracy

DS-Syndicate
Pretty Good Component..., September 12, 2007
2 of 2 people find this review helpful:

DS-Syndicate and a big improvement over the built in rss feed management.

Unfortunately it produces relative URLs instead of absolute making email rss subscriptions unworkable using tools like Feedblitz and Feedburner.

Searched the forums and the site for DS-Syndicate without resolution.

Only thing keeping me from giving it a rave review.

Hope that helps,
Tracy A. Phaup

"JoomlaCloner" - backup and restore
Add this component to your 'must have' list!, February 15, 2007

"JoomlaCloner" - backup and restore I needed to clone one of my sites and I purchased this product to do it.

If I was only allowed one word for the review I would use 'suh-WEEET!'

I eaily installed the component; the interface is beautiful and totally intuitive (of course I'm not going to slow down long enough to read the manual!).

I was able to back up my site, clone it and get it working on the new domain in about half an hour - and the only reason it took me that long is because I DIDN'T read the instructions.

I'd tried several components as well as my hosting services for backing up my Joomla sites and was never able to get them to work well enough to get a clean working copy - and after putting (sometimes countless) hours of work into getting them installed, configured and adding content THAT's a pretty scary thing.

I had an issue with how I'd configured the site to be cloned and I got a response to my post for support within half an hour and the instructions to fix it were so clean and helpful that I had the issue resolved within minutes.

I purchased the lifetime supply of updates and support for this product and I look forward to using it for many years to come.

Definitely worth every penny of the purchase price and I can't recommend it highly enough, and may even have to come back and edit my review when something else to rave about comes to mind.

Hope that helps,
Tracy A. Phaup

eventCal
 Ick!, October 3, 2006

After tormenting myself for two weeks trying to track down the necessary documentation I needed to figure out how to do what I needed to do to configure and use it the way I wanted - I gave up!

A cruicial feature was that my users can submit events - never got it working correctly.

I don't mind wading through the documentation to get the answer I need; I do mind not having the documentation I need!! (grin)

If it's out there - I couldn't find it!

Part of my 'thing' is that it's not pretty (imho) trying to find the info I want at Source Forge and would rather do without some of the functionality of EventCal than continue the torture.

Hope that helps,
t

EventList
 Rock on!, October 3, 2006

EventList I've only been playing with this calendar for two minutes and it's a beautiful thing!!!

Seamless to install, configure, and make available to my users.

Sweeeeeet!

The previous reviewer was asking about being able to edit an event, and you can. Just select the event and then, well - 'edit' of all things (smile).

Love the integration ability with CommunityBuilder and Google maps - so far - loving it.

Switched to this after beating myself to a pulp trying to get EventCal configured and working correctly. The forums here don't have much info on EventCal and I *hate* trying to squeeze anything useful out of Source Forge's forums....

So, I'm delighted to switch!

Only "waah" I have so far, would like a more graphical calendar like presentation.

Also loving that users can 'register' for events.

Thanks...
