Indeed it does work very well... but there is certainly a reason it is still an RC instead of a full release.
- documentation is really weak for integration with other extensions... and the forum posts for those extensions and integration with sh404SEF are becoming overwhelming to dig through for resolution {again, typical for an RC and for an OpenSource extension}
- I'm on a shared host (like most of you!), and there were some performance issues - typical and expected for any Joomla site really, but more noticeable with this enabled (which is also typical and expected with most SEF extensions)
- 98% of the time it worked great, but it is that 2% that will never return to your site because of page errors. *sigh*
- had frequent issues with virtuemart pages not appearing
until clicked multiple times
- had unresolvable issues with joomap (worked around this by manually creating the sitemap and saving it at the root rather than relying on the dynamic sitemap extensions)
NOTE: to anyone planning to use it with .htaccess, be sure to enable the advanced config view so you can actually make the necessary changes in the advanced config to get things working properly.
In summary, a fantastic extension, I personally will wait until it is a full release before trying it again and certainly before trying on a live site.
