Many sites neither need nor want a complex forum, but want instead an easy way for users to communicate. This bare-bones Joomla! 1.5 native forum component is the "simplest forum" possible while still providing useful functionality. Simplest Forum allows role-based viewing, posting and management and provides two views: a list of all forums, and a list of posts for a specific forum. Forum and post list display is completely CSS based for maximum customization. Thanks to a handful of helpful folks, Simplest Forum's front end has been translated into several languages as well (see contributions and thanks on our download page). Simplest Forum comes bundled with CAPTCHA support via Simple CAPTCHA which can be enabled or disabled in the configuration. It also comes bundled with a basic (but very customizable) "Latest Posts" module as well as a Joomla! search Plugin. The Simplest Forum does not include pagination, marked-up posts, profiles, etc. If you want any of those things, you may be better off using one of the more advanced components such as Fireboard or modifying this one to better suit your needs.
