as a total beginner I love this extension, it just works. I mucked around with another which wouldn't do what it promised, this is just what the doc ordered. Cheers

it works well on my site, but it does not support unicode, the non-ascii characters dot not display correctly, hope that it does soon

First I must say it is the BEST solution ever with native Joomla 1.5 who dont want a real non-commercial Guest book component. Here is no HIDDEN Fee [like Copyright notice, which will can remove after donation].

Its simple to setup and simple to work. With easyCaptcha, it works fine.

So full mark goes to its dedicated team.

I reviewed earlier but gave it two stars for the effort because the Captcha validation is broken.

Spammers can leave out the 'gbcode' from POST and EB will store the entry as if no captcha was active..

Replace the if-statement on line 209 of
components/com_easybook/models/entry.php to include a check for the 'gbcode' key. E.g. use:

if(!array_key_exists('gbcode', $data) || !$captcha->checkEnteredCode($data['gbcode']))

I've monitored my install for a few days now, and the occasional visiting spammer leaves after one try, so it seems their methods won't work anymore :)

Positive: Fast component. Nice layout and cleas css file.

Negative:
- Lots of spam, even with spam suppressor.
- CSS is not included in the view folder. This is not oké when you want to change the layout.

To the developers: please adjust the position of the css files so we can actually use the template adjustment.

While it was easy to install.
The daily spam count is beyond ridiculous.
Today, alone, I had 25 spams.

I had to turn of this module on my site, and am now stuck trying to find another one.

easy to install, easy to use, easy ...

but also very easy for others to spam, even with the captcha turned on there is a spam message every 10 minutes ...

too bad :(

Enabled captcha, followed instructions in the forums.. no way.. Spam every 5 minutes!!

I thought this extension will be a breeze. But like the other I had so much trouble with spambots even with the captcha enabled.

Its a fine guestbook but captcha seems to be appearances only, spammers get right through.

It really doesn't work.
More than 25 spam messages per day even with CAPTCHA enabled!
Use it only if you have the time to clean up the guestbook twice a day.

I'm a Joomla pleb, and this module was very easy to install, setup and configure. The backend is easy to customize and the CSS style sheet is easy to edit to change custom colours.

I recommend this for anybody that's looking for a simple, guestbook that lets the user feel safe leaving their details. Its a no brainer to setup, and can be configured quite easily by someone with little experience.

This component is easy to use like the name says. But it have a serious flaw that enable to malicious bots in the internet to post lots of SPAM in the guestbook, even with the component blocked to the users and with CAPTCHA enabled!

So if you planned to use this component, I recommend to get distance of it until this error can be fixed properly.

this simple guestbook is exactly what I wanted. It's easy to install. You simply create a link to the guestbook (you will have a new option "easybook" when you create a link). Thanks for this extension!

Great guestbook for joomla. Has all what it needs to have, the Easy Captcha is a nice addition to the guestbook.

I've not so much been looking for a system to use a a guest book as rather one i could adapt for use with my testimonials and i must say, EasyBook adapted to the role wunderfully :-)

Even with JoomSEO it ran (but with a few hiccups) and when i killed the SEO routines to this component, its flawless.

This is a great extensions. It is really good that it imports akobook comments. I like the built in captcha as well.

It will fit your needs perfectly UNTIL you need to change something in the code. The source code of this component is a mess and hacking it is really painful.

This is one of the good guestbook i ever had.
But i have a problem in the filter.

I try to use it in arabic and i test the filter word in arabic. Not working the filter for arabic. the english are working but in arabic the word filter are not working
