Ajax Math Captcha - SecureForm PluginExtension Specific Addon

With an accessible CAPTCHA this plugin provide an hook for secure Joomla! and other extensions Form from spam. No need to hack nothing of joomla core files. Now mathematical questions or ascii art can be used instead of the classic image. The code check are made with ajax. This plugin for work don't hack any joomla core file, so it can works with any 1.5 Joomla version, despite you need to use it with compatible extension like AUser Manager Component for example, if you want to protect the login or register form, ect. If you want protect the contact form use for example the Acontact Manager. For extensions integration take a look at AUser Manager or AContact Manager code. It works with two events that need to be triggered, the onView: show the capctha, and the onVerify check the inputed code. So is very easy to use trigger the onView event on your form, and verify the User response triggering the onVerify event from your controller.

This is a good tool once you get it working, but getting it there is not at all straight forward. As others have posted, there is no documentation that I have found that actually says that you have to install many other tools by this developer. Even then, there is still quite a bit of fumbling and figuring out.

Honestly, I already have the system I want, I just needed a captcha plugin.

With the lack of documentation and requirement of multiple tools I don't want, I wouldn't recommend this plugin to anyone.
based on the glowing reviews here, I downloaded and installed secureform.

Nowhere does it say that you actually need a couple of other plugins for this to work... the "support" button takes you to the forum, where luckily others have asked the same and that's how I found out.

And then, it doesn't work. Back to the support forum, an issue similar to mine has been posted a month ago, and others have posted the same since. So far there has been no reply from the developers.

Fully agree with all, you must know how to config and what to install ,after is very simple. The math captcha is a good choice for some sites, i've saw something like on wordpress, but sometimes yours give hard math to solve for my brain.
First off, thanks to the user below that detailed the modules that were necessary. The install may have been more difficult without that information.

I literally had the modules installed, running, and tested within 5 minutes.

Like many of you I have struggled with other Joomla! modules. Well this one is a piece of cake and there are no hacks.
Having had my site spam-botted to distraction I first stopped registration and then started to look for a good captcha. Many of them need you to hack core file - way outside my comfort level. But although this is good, you need to look around for dummy-proof instructions.

I'll save you some time.

To enable captcha on registration, you need to download three extensions - SecureForm plugin, AUserManager component and ALogin module. Use the AUser Manager to configure the captcha you want (eg. registration)under Parameters. Other options are available if you want them. Enable the ALogin module and disable the one that comes with Joomla. You won't notice any difference between the two but the ALogin one takes you to the registration that requires the captcha.

Easy when you know how! It's the only thing that stopped me marking this "Excellent".
The installation and setting up required a little though but all went smoothly.

A minor bug was found where the log-in form allowed user names to include spaces but would not allow logging in after.

A post in the forum brought prompt response and the issue was solved rapidly.

I am pleased to recommend this developers products without hesitation.

It would be useful for other component makers to add compatibility for this in their products.

Top marks!
I have been using SecurityImages and am pleased with it but I was looking to find a Captcha implementation that did not require hacking or replacing any core Joomla! files. Well, I've found what I was looking for!

SecureForm is awesome! It works beautifully once setup and does not require hacking or replacing any core files.

However, there is no documentation included with the plugin or in the plugin's settings. I had to go Alikonweb's forum and read through posts to get Captcha working on my Contact form. As it turns out to use SecureForm on with a contact page you also have to install AContact and then create a link to your AContact contact. Then you also have to make a change a Alikonweb SecureForm Plugin setting in the plugin manager. You have to set the Use crypt setting to AES.

Other than the lack of documentation, though, I highly recommend this plugin!
I was trying to use something that seemingly looked easier and more robust but SecureForms did the trick and in half the time it took to figure out the other app.

Wow! Perfect for me!

It does what it says. There is a bug in Contacts. When you type an incomplete captcha, the extensions allows it, clearing the form without sending it.

Any user may think the form was sent and the feedback never reaches the contact.

Allow me to add my praise of this extension. It works well and is easily installed and configured. Possibly because it is so easy, the documentation is a tad lacking, but anyone who has worked with Joomla! a little bit can easily figure it out from the readme file. A NOTE TO NEWBIES: UNZIP THE FILE THAT YOU DOWNLOAD HERE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL THE FILE IN THE JOOMLA! BACKEND.

I needed to set up captcha for my contact form quickly this morning. I tried SecurityImages and reCaptcha. The first was difficult to setup and the second only works on registration forms.

After reading reviews on this page, I downloaded SecureForms for Joomla 1.0.15, and even though the instructions were just a tad sparse, it was still easy to set up and works well.

After unzipping the download, I read the readme file, backed up my files and uploaded the replacements as instructed. Then I installed the securebot zip file with Joomla's Mambot installer. After publishing the bot, the captcha form came right up. I had to customize the text and some of the margin space to suit my layout, but I feel comfortable recommending this bot and its hacks. Replacing "install Securebot configure and publish" with something like "Install the enclosed, zipped securebot file with the Joomla Mambot installer and publish." might help resolve some confusion. But I'm just nitpicking.

Thanks Cedric!
I have been sifting through all the captcha scripts in the joomla extensions library. I have tried nearly all of them. This one is by far the easiest to use and best looking. Some captcha's are hard to read, not this one. Make sure you read the info in the forum on how to install.

I am on J-1.5.7

As of today, this is the best Captcha out there for Joomla 1.5.x
And the best thing is that there are no 'hacks' or overwriting of core Joomla! files as many others require. I pulled my hair out (not too much to work with in the first place! :) ) trying to get the 'other' popular one to work and finally just wiped out the install and started over.

The key to getting this one to work is to follow the instructions on the site / forum. For full functionality, you have to install the SecureForm plugin, Auser, AContact and ALogin. Set them all up as per the instructions and you will have CAPTCHA-enabled User Login, Lost Password, Lost Username, Registration AND Contact emails!!! Fantastic!

I spent yesterday trying to make SecurityImages and EasyCaptcha work, with nothing but errors that were impossible to debug, and the forums a bit useless.

THis morning, after an hour spent uninstalling all the fragments left behind by securityimages, I gave this a try.

What a joy. Installed and working within 5 minutes. So if you're having trouble with the others, try this.

I have tried many different CAPTCHA mods & bots but this one worked for me immediately and provides a clear CAPTCHA picture with 4 characters or more plus has the option of listening to the code! Exactly what I was looking for.

Simply replace the pages you want securing with the ones provided in the download (easy with JoomlaXplorer)and publish the bot - simple!

Well done alikonweb for a small & well thought out bot.

I absolutely love this plugin. It gets the job done and addresses accessibility. Great Job!
