Download link: scroll at the bottom of all explanations. You must have javascript activated in order to download the two files (support for joom 1.5 & 1.0x are in separate files).
Last update: automitically add next/previous action on images in same article (can be disabled), improved naming of thumbnails, better support for fcke and more.
If you update fboxbot, I advise you delete your cached thumbnails to free some disk space (naming of thumbnails changed a bit).

I was long time compiling my article with lots of pictures... Formatting was ugly, big pictures were out of page, small ones were horribly blended... I have recalled some of nice capabilities of professional sites where clicking on small image makes thumbnails magically grow. I have searched, installed and immediately used this wonderful feature, that helped to finish my article (it's in Russian :)
Many thanks, great work!!!!

Just what I wanted. Worked straight out of the box.
Even worked with images on my server but outside my Joomla folder.

This is a great bot that does exactly what it advertises. I had a small issue that I couldn't figure out and had to send an email for support. I got a response within hours that gave me a simple fix and I was back in business. It is developers like this that make me love Joomla more and more every day.

This plugin really saves me time. Easy to install and operate. Thanks a lot mehdi. Waiting for more plugins.

Basically, you don't have to do ANYTHING except install it and publish it. It just works. All your old content is automatically handled just the way you would want, IMHO.
Images derived from larger ones are automatically displayed in their full size when you click on them.
I did find one bug, which will probably be easy for the author to fix: if the name of the image contains a space, it doesn't work.
Bravo!

This bot saved me, as I previously had another plugin installed to do this job, but this stopped working.
This bot just looks, feels and acts great. What more can I say?
Excellent!
Thank you, Mehdi.

I have little experience with Joomla! and often find several problems when trying to add an extension or plug in that will do what I want without having to register at 101 different sites before I can download the new software, or find after having done that that the software is NOT FREE but requires some sort of payment. Once you actually have the software and try to install it, you get errors or there is little documentation to help you.
This plug-in is brilliant, as it does exactly what it says on the box.
Download it and install it.
and you only have to publish it, after uploading the software to the backend from the zip file, just go to plug-ins and click the red "un-published" icon to publish it and for most parts it works 100% straight away.
I found that if my files were "name.jpg.jpg" then I had to enable the "don't clean html" code as described and had to use the fb:src="name.jpg.jpg" to get it to work, but this is avoidable if you use good file names and extensions. Renaming the files via FTP was quicker and automatically made the pop up work for these images.
Easiest software to install and use, documentation was very good and not to long, but with good examples.
WELL DONE, now if only ALL Joomla! software was done this way, it would be a very quick way of adding option software to your CMS site without the hassle of having to go through loads of bad software to fine the diamond in the crap heap

Wow, I wasn't looking for this, I just stumbled upon it and it is SO welcome! Great straight out of the box extension. Great work guys! Thanks.

I just wanted something quick and simple to show an enlarged map when people click on it. I'm using a mootools javascript enabled theme but the mootools plugin I was trying to use previously threw up conflict errors in IE and I spent a lot of time trying to fix them. Switching to this non-mootools plugin solved the problem immediately.
I think a previous reviewer asked about changing the popup background colour from black - you can simply do this by editing the fbox_bg properties in the fbox_css.css file.

It's lightweight and perfect for what I need it for. I don't even have to make any adjustments to the existing content on my site which is awesome. Great work!
This is a great plugin. It is easy to install and works right out the box.
The only bad side of it is, that it has a pretty slow fade in effekt when the lightbox pops in. Does anybody know how to speed up that effect or how to deactivat the fade in?
Thank you

Well, I cannot but compare FBoxBot with JCEutils 1.30.
Both (FBoxBot and JCEutils) are very similar in functionality.
JCEutils is based on mootools js (or alternatively on jquery) library which is the future Joomla! 1.5 javascript platform and FBoxBot is based on author's own script. So it seems JCEutils is more perspective.
But: JCEutils takes 60kB, FBoxBot 16kB.
Besides FBoxBot saves a great deal of content manager's time due to its built in automatic thumbs creation.
So it is difficult for me which one I will choose. If it were not been for Joomla! 1.5 dev team decision about mootools I will choose FBoxBot definitely.
Its excellent!

It took several searches before I came across FboxBot. I was looking for a EASY automatic way for thumbnails of DIFFERENT sizes to be handled along with the very cool lightbox effect. This script does both without errors.
Using JCE as the editor, I am able to construct an online portfolio using Joomla's built in articles/categories that looks great and functions much better then a thumbnail sheet. I am able to emphasize a photo and make 1 thumbnail larger then the rest.
Improvements:
Would be nice to be able to limit the bot to a category or section of the site.
Make the bot work better inside of JCE by automatically loading the last thumbnail.
Get a "DEMO" button up on Joomla.ORG

This bot does NOT use CSS to resize in your browser, it actually creates a new thumbnail to size you manually set when creating the article and saves it with the watermark on it to view the larger file in a popup lightbox.
Install it, publish it and forget it. It's automatic and perfect for adding single thumbs that have a cool lightbox effect to your content.
Great Job and THANKS!

This component is fine in as much as it works for visually resizing the image. But it does it with CSS and thus does not actually resize the image.
This means that if you upload an image that is 800x600 and insert it and scale it down - the end user will still end up downloading that huge image but it will be DISPLAYED smaller.
This also means that the browser has to resize the image, whith not very good results.

Owner's reply
Well, if the full image is downloaded,
this just mean that the plugin didn't work for that picture. If by default you don't see the watermark, then nothing has be done to the picture.
Possible reasons:
* improper url. Only urls corresponding to your joomla site are accepted (or relative path).
* the plugin is not even activated.
* url encoded path to image, not supported yet.
* The gd2 library failed to handle a corrupted image ...
If you wish to discuss further the issue, please contact me.
Simply installed and goes like a rocket.
No pain, no hassle and you can visually control your thumbnail just with your mouse.
Just great!

It's a great concept. First time I used it was perfect.
However, when I tried again, it no longer worked. The images just sat there.
I didn't do anything differently after the first time, but it no longer wanted to work for some reason.
Maybe it's me. Maybe it's a bug. Dunno.
As I said, it's a great concept if I can get it to work more than once.

I think it's a MUST BOT for Joomla!! The best lightbox mambot ever!!!!! You can resize the picture "manually", have all your caption (even if it's a looooong one), it has maximize/minimize actions, lightweight.... WOW... it just does everything it says!! And it's so easy to install.
Thank you so much... God bless you ^_^

It is the only lightbox-like picture handler I know that allows the user to close the picture by simply clicking on it instead of clicking an icon at the bottom of the pic and THAT is clever. Another killer feature is the automatic resize to fit small screens.
Only missing thing is that all texts (next, close etc) are in english without any multilnguage possiblity.
Great app!
