With JContentSubscription you can sell individual article(s) to individual user(s). This is the best solution for selling individual "Fitness plan", or "Individual Diet Program". You can sell Individual articles in a category or some static content. Or sell the whole category or section that is perfect for "Commercial News Portal" or even "Distant Learning". And at last, you can create subscription for ANY section of ANY component!
Here are just few ideas.
For example, create subscription for category or even file to download in DocMan or Remository. Create subscription to submit news. Create Subscription to add listing in Mosets tree or HotProperty and free to see any. Create subscription for category of wallpapers in datsoGallery or Zoom Gallery. Create subscription for anything you can imagine.
Let’s to examine why JCS claims to have no analogues for today in the sphere and why it is the wise choice.

Spent 2 days trying to get this to work on 1.5. Fixed the problem with it freezing the site, only to find that the payment processing does not activate.
Surely this should be taken off the extension list as it does not work and its only possible purpose must be to link users to the paid for website.
Very poor.

I tried to use the extension on my site. As soon as the extension is enabled, the site stops working. The extension not only unusable, but it brake down the whole site. You have to install the whole site again.
I personally tried to use it on Joomla version 1.5.7 to 1.5.23. It broke all the sites to trash.
Dont know the reason. Unfortunately I read reviews after my experiments, which had similar experience. This is just to caution future users to avoid wastage of their time and energy.

I'm so relieved I read the reviews saying that this will lock you out of your site. I still wanted to try it so I made a backup of the site before proceeding. Everything was fine on install, I even configured some settings. However, when I started to enable the plugins, that's when it locked me out. Suddenly 'access restricted' came up and that was it, I couldn't get back into the site. Restoring my backed up database was all I could do. I can't be bothered to investigate further, I just uninstalled it and will continue my search for something that will work.
DO NOT INSTALL. This extension does not work. Installing on Joomla 1.5 cause site to lose all access to both frontend and backend. The only resultion was to use phpmyadmin to fix my database and expunge the extension from my site.
This plugin is not compatible with Joomla 1.5 and does cause a problem by taking down the front end of the site and the administrator back end down with a restricted access error.
Can anyone post their solution as to how they got the site restored?

I got the same sad problem, with try to install and setup the JContentSubscription,
firt of all, I had to resolve the LEGACY problem, by order the LEGACY of system plugin behind ALL JContentSubscription bot(plugins),it's so luck I can do that,
Then, the list of new paln at the right of Restrict Content Categories, very sadly didn't display at all!
However I didn't try to close the payment testing,
I have to leave away this good extension so far!
ps, I even thought it will run well if I install their Juser extension, which works together well?
But, after insalled Juser, can't open the component at all! I got lines of warning,
I have to say again, if you didn't have successful experience on it, don't wast your sevel days time on it AGAIN!
The end, if anybody can fix the bugs? please tell me, thanks.

In my mind, flexible and comprehensive paid subscription system, has good support.
In fact, i need another paid solution for my site. But i think this extension is good. It will better if it provide the way to pay for each time user read the article.
Thanks
Frank

I downloaded this extension and installed it on Joomla! 1.5.15. Everything installed ok, but needed to turn on Legacy support plugin to make it work.
I followed the installation documentation but found that things didn't work as described with broken Article titles etc. Never could get anything to work, not even the PayPal payment link, it just didn't divert to the payment page.
I tried to uninstall the component via the Joomla! Extension manager and both the front-end and back-end(admin) pages went blank. So, to recover, I tried to delete the tables directly from the MySQL database and for some weird reason the entire schema that I had Joomla! installed on disappeared.
Notes to self:
* Glad this was just a localhost installation and I had a backup of my original schema
* Never had this kind of experience with any other extension before in 5 years of Mambo/Joomla usage
* Scary, just will not go near this extension again
I have never had to review like this before, but sorry, this extension had to have it.

I installed JContentSubscription on a fresh, default installation of the latest Joomla (1.5.15) with the Legacy extension enabled.
I'm sure these extensions worked fine at one time, but unfortunately with the latest Joomla the JCS extensions now cause both the public Administrator back-end and the public website itself to fail with a "Restricted access" error.
When the Admin interface fails, it's a pain to recover the site. In this case, I ftp'd into the file system to find and rename (effectively disabling) the JCS php files.
My feedback to others: DO NOT use these extensions.
The JContentSubscription extension should be removed from the Joomla Extensions directory, or at least no longer marked as compatible with 1.5 (even in legacy mode).

I have just finished to install it on a Joomla 1.5.
As soon you activate the plugin your site and your admin console will be a blank page with a "restricted access" message.
Hope that I will sort out this problem because I'm locked out from my site.
Don't use this extension.

Its very good actually. I am using it and it blocks whatever article or component you wish people to pay to see or use. I tested it with paypal by using a gift mastercard. Make sure you follow their instructions. At first i was confused as to how your web site user will see a link to it and then subscribe. You can use a menu (main menu, top links etc) to display a link or simply type a link to the article somewhere on your site. I read the instructions 5 times to make sure i'm doing the right things. Its easy. Try it.
Most people want this to set up right out of the box and not to have to jump through hoops to set up PayPal. After spending a number of hours trying to get PayPal to work i debugged the errors and the software was looking for jos_mambots. Yeah ok. No great explanation of how to get Paypal going.
I have just downloaded JCS and installed it into my website. I'm really impressed with the solutions of the product. It's the thing i need. I'm a newbie in Joomla, but when i read the document for the project, it's easy to understand.
I recommend this to everyone who is looking for a way to add pay-per-view content to their Joomla site.
I need some features for my site, so i'm willing to wait new version of the extension.
Thanks
David

I downloaded this component a couple of weeks ago expecting it to do what it says on this page, it doesn't. If you want to sell pieces of content (not subscriptions to content categories) don's use this. (and be careful because I also emailed them to check it does this and they said it did too, until they tried to set it up!)
In addition the documentation is useless and every support request take 48-72h to come back and in most cases is meaningless.
Finally they won't give me a refund which is very bad practice.

I recently purchased JContentSubscription and JUser...
I have to say, even for a novice like me it was very-very-easy to setup my subscription pages using JCS. During the design of my site I was a bit worried about how I was going to setup paid subscriptions, but with JCS it was a 10 minute job!
My only gripe is that the English strings are not very good (understandable considering the developers are not english), but it's not that big a deal as the strings are easily changed and there are not many of them.
The help manuals (downloadable from the site) are very informative and tell you exactly what to do. I've not needed to use it, but the support site seems good.
I'd 100% recommend this to anyone who is looking for a way to add pay-per-view content to their Joomla site.

I have never written a Joomla extension review before but I feel it's necessary now. Up till now, I purchased Open Source knowing it was pretty much "as-is" or required a level of php to hack your way to satisfaction. The JCS team helped me configure the software at a very reasonable charge. The software does everything I want by limiting access to certain articles or components to subscribers only while having the balance of the site being Public. Thank you very much Sergey!
This is my first ever joomla site and I was a bit worried I would not be able to work out how to use this extension. It installed perfectly first time and I spent a long while staring at my screen wondering if I would ever get my head around this. However I decided it might be beneficial to read the PDF manual and lo and behold I had everything working perfectly in a few minutes. I had a bit of trouble getting the discount coupon function to work for me but the email support from Sergey was excellent and I had it working in no-time. The main reason for purchasing this extension was for a subscription based site which has members only pages and I thought this would be very difficult to do. How wrong I was! JContentSubscription does exactly what it says on the tin and very easy it is to use too. Highly Recommended.
