The cart uses VirtueMart language files combined with his own language file. You can tweak it as you wish.
The one-line text content is placed in two DIVs to let you style it more:

UPDATE:
30-03-2011 Due to popular demand the ability to update the cart via Ajax was added, and in the structure a slight change occured:
< div id="slimcart"> was replaced with
< div class="vmCartModule">
So, those of you who are upgrading, be warned - this may impact your styling.
19-09-2010 Currency display fixed, module now works correctly with currency converter active and displays the value of items added to cart according to the preferences set in the shop configuration.

I had to modify the code in mod_vm_slimcart.php so that the currency symbol would change when the user changed their currency in virtuemart. Out of the box, this module displayed the Euro symbol regardless of other global settings.

I must to thank you!
I updated the code, and now the currency is shown correctly.
(I developed the module for a client who needed only €, seemingly i was lazy to change it to show the actual currency.) So, for the rest of you: problem fixed!
it seems to be very interesting... but I can't register for downloading too :-(
