This plugin lets other users adding reviews and ratings (comments and votes) to the entries in your SOBI2 directory.
Main Features:
- The front-page layout can be changed easily with CSS.
- An AJAX based pagination system is integrated to limit the maximum number of entries for one page.
- AJAX technology is also used to send the review and rating information. Therefore the page won't be reloaded after a review or vote is submitted.
- Backend administration panel for various settings of the plugin.
- All reviews and ratings can be edited, deleted, published or unpublished in the Entry Manger of SOBI2. The entry settings are expanded by a tab "Reviews and Ratings" where all submitted votes and comments for an entry are shown.
Various Settings available:
- Use it to only vote or only comment the directory entries.
- Allow all users to do this (anonymous voting and commenting) or only for registered users.
- Users can be allowed to vote and comment one entry multiple times or only once (per user or per IP if anonymous rating is allowed).
- Publish reviews automatically or not.
- Determine the review form position
- and the number of reviews shown on one page
- or the sorting order of the reviews.
- Show user name or real name of your registered users if they wrote a review, together with their email address or not.
- Change the information text shown above the reviews form
- and the date format of your reviews easily in the plugin administration panel.
- The number of reviews for an entry can be shown in the V-Card of the entries.
- If an entry is updated in the meantime a message can be shown to point up this fact.
- Emails can be send if a review is made. Use the various placeholders to customize your emails.
The rating system is confusing for the user (has to select the ratings from a drop down menu instead of just clicking on the starts), you can rate 100 times if you want from the same IP and the Reviews part doesn't have any captcha or flood or spam protection. Very poor plugin in my opinion. Support is also very rude - even when you buy the very expensive products from those developers.

The ajax system that allowed latest comment to instantly appear (rather than on page refresh) broke, and that made it not near as cool.
Firebug gave me some clues... threw an error that was reported by another commenter below... but after an hour of searching for a fix I gave up.
In looking for an alternative, I came across JComments. Also installed their sobi2 plugin. Wow - now that's quite a component! Does a ton more stuff! I'm sort of glad now that this plugin broke on me.

I have this on a site that requires people to rate different things I have listed with the Sobi2 component. I love Sobi2 and this reviews and ratings extension. It fits perfectly for what I am looking for. The little stars are so cute and look nice with my website. I have never had a problem with it. It is nice that it can be turned on and off in the back end. I looked through many other extensions and this is the best one (by far imo) for a rating system. I definitely recommend trying it out! Plus its free! :)
This is a really nice and well working ad-on. The only thing that didn't work out of the box was that you need to add content to the SOBI2 templates. Once I read the instructures, the implementation was quick.
The only other thing, which I will try to figure out is how to substitute the drop-down for the star rating with an Ajax style control.

The SOBI Review & Rating works well and is easy to install. The user-interface is simple to understand for the end-user. The Administration aspect is just as clear. The only thing is with the parsing of apostrophe's from the end-user input. I find that if I clean up the / from the Admin panel then that solves the problem. Thank you very much for this wonderful software. :)
SOBI is a very good component to manage a phone-book with many options already integrated. The plugin Review & Rating is realy an added value to make a web site today. It is a first version with only basics functions, I hope there will be some coming improvements like multi-criterias for rating.
The SOBI 2 component has moved forward by leaps and bounds with superb features and functionality. More features and plugins seem always to be in the works and always quick to come. This SOBI2 Reviews and Rating Plugin works perfectly and is easy to configure and easy to moderate through the back end of each directory related entry. Overall SOBI2 is an excellent alternative to such directories as Mosets Tree and outperforms many others with its ease of use and features.
