Featured Articles Module Module

Simple, lightweight module which allows you to display your selected articles titles, to attract attention to these articles. Just enter comma seperated list of content IDs and you are up and running. Use inline styles to customise look and feel on each title and of all the module if necessary.

Update 1: Allows you to associate each item with a menu item id thus ensuring that all modules related to the content item id are displayed accordingly.

Update 2: Allows you to choose the way you want the items to order the article titles. Now also allows you to add a module suffix for individual styling of the module.

Update 3: New version supports Joomla 1.5 natively

Update 4: Can choose to display intro text, or full text, with or without HTML text.

it does what I needed: to list any articles in any way I want.
bymoondraak on January 31, 2009
Works exactly how I wanted it to.
My only "gripe" is that the download site annoys the heck out of me with all its flashing stuff!

Thank you for the module, using it on 1.5.9 and so far no problems.

One suggestion : the ability to open links on a new window "_blank", i was able to do it by adding target="_blank" to the code, but maybe others won't be able to alter the code.

thanks.

This is a great answer to a common need. The ability to strip tags from the articles and intros is really helpful, too.

One tiny thing...maybe a little more CSS control of the display would be nice, maybe hrs between articles?

You should be able to adjust the HTML generated quite easily, using the files in the tmpl folder. Just make sure you leave all the php commands in place!

Does exactly what it says, easy to install.

Great work, highly recommended
Thanks for such a wonderful module. I have used this in Joomla 1.12 and now in Joomla 1.5 and it works like a charm.
Can display it in any fashion using css and all the important links can be shown. I initially had little bit problem with SEF but David helped to get that fixed. Really appreciate it.
Great work! Keep it up!! Team rocks!!!
This module offers flexibility in article presentation but SEF links are not that way Joomla 1.5 offers.
Links are in the following way.
http://localhost/component/content/article/583.html
They propagate the right article though.

SEF issues has been fixed in latest version.

Really great module! Just what I was looking for! And I had no trouble downloading it, even if I had to register and login.

All the best!

I have been circling around download and login for half an hour trying to navigate between ads and commercial extensions, without being able to understand how do download this module.

I understand the desire to make some decent money and to advertise new features, but this looks more like an obsession.

I am doubting whether in its current state, this site will allow anyone a simple download of this Featured Articles Extension, which appears to be so hot.

Kind regards,

Piero, I'm not sure why you are finding it so difficult to download the module. You simply need to register and login and click on downloads. There's been quite a few thousand downloads of the module, so I guess the system does work. In case you still can't make it, get in touch via any of the emails above and I can send you the files personally. And no I'm not making decent money unfortunately :( I'd have retired and improved on the module if I had.

This is a great idea for a module, and so far seems weel executed. That said, i have some suggestions for it to be better.

i wish i didn't have to type parenthesis around the content item ID list, to be consistent with the functionality of the built-in "Latest News" module.

i'm disappointed that i can't add a module class suffix like i can for most modules. i'm glad this module is built to be CSS-aware, but i don't want to add CSS as parameters- i want it to pull from my theme. The template chooser module, for example, is not very compatible with this module because this module's style is specified in the module parameters.

Also, i would prefer if the div and table versions were included in one release, with a parameter to select the variation.

Module is now CSS aware.

Fantastic job - this module is one of those gems that you can find lots of uses for. Works a dream and easy to install.

Support was excellent too. I sent a question and the developer was very helpful and responsive.

Nice and simple module, very easy to implement, and does exactly what it says. Really looking forward to the article ordering being finished as that will be a great improvement.

I was looking for a module to highlight articles on my web site so the visitor to the home page could see what I thought was important. This module does that with no problems! Easy to use, clean presentation, automatic links to the articles. Great job by the author.

More importantly, I had a question about an improvement to the program. Email help was very fast, responsive, and to the point. This is the kind of service you wish everyone gave.

I highly recommend dart-creations products and modules.
What a great addition this is to the Modules section.
It allows you to show what you want, and where you want it.
Semantic output, and simple to style.

This really is one of those "must have modules" for your Joomla website, and believe me, our site has over 3500 pages, so this comes in handy.
I beleieve there is an update coming out soon which allows you to link to a menu item id? =)

David the creator is also a top bloke, and great to communicate with.
Thanks!

A very simple and useful module in a couple of applications.

I've tried it out on four sites and it gave no errors at all.

thanks!
