JoomlaWorks Ultimate Content Display (UCD) Popular Module

*** Native Joomla! 1.5 version now available! ***

The "Ultimate Content Display" module by JoomlaWorks is a "super content retrieval module"!

"Ultimate Content Display" (or UCD for short) can fetch and display your Joomla! content or newsfeed items in any module position in 3 different ways. In a plain (unordered) list format, inside an ajax cross-fader or inside a jQuery-based cross-fader/slider! 3 unique ways to display your content or newsfeed items!

So you can have for example a "latest news" side module, along with a cross fader box that retrieves content from a specific category dynamically and a content slider, acting as a "newsflash" box! Pretty cool, right?

The "Ultimate Content Display" module is actually the evolution of JoomlaWorks' popular "Ultimate AJAX Newsflash" and "Content Items Fading Scroller" modules and has been developed with ease of use and... practicality in mind! It's the kind of module you "set and forget", cause it simply works! Plus, it can help you create powerful Joomla! based portal websites, which require various types of "content" or "info" boxes, floating around your main content.

The module is entirely CSS based, with a unique "neutral" styling to match your website's design.

The release of the "Ultimate Content Display" module also marks the retirement of the "Ultimate AJAX Newsflash" and "Content Items Fading Scroller" modules. We advise all existing users of the replaced modules to upgrade to this new product, as it combines and expands their functions.

Make sure you check out our official DEMO site at http://demo.joomlaworks.gr to see the module in action.

Enjoy one more fine release from the folks at JoomlaWorks!

I'm relatively new to Joomla and extensions can be so difficult to implement. But when I install the extensions from Joomlaworks - they just work. Thank you for all your hard work :)

The module provider should specify that this module doesn't work with multilanguage when you config it as AJAX CROSS FADER.
With JQUERY CROSS FADER/SLIDER multilanguage works.

Why the module usese jquery instead mootools ( joomla 1.5 comes with mootools ) ?

It's a nice extension.

Great extension to display dynamic content. It integrated easily in my website. Thanks!

I have reached a point with Joomla extensions that if I see an extension that has been developed by JoomlaWorks, I don't look any farther. I know their extensions are going to do what they see they will do.
UCD is no exception to that rule. It does exactly what the developers say it will do and enhances your content display.
To the developers, Great work and Thank you for another great extension.
I will be donating to the pizza fund on this one.
This is a good module. That said I've never got the AJAX version working and have had to resort to jQuery. Still it does what I need it to.

I had a problem with the module displaying all of the content on page load. I looked in the forums and found no solution or even answer from the developer.

This I find a little out of order, especially as after a little digging I found out how to fix it.

If you want to stop the module displaying all the content it will rotate on pageload, edit the css and add display:none to ul.ucd_jqueryfader li.ucd_item.

Fixes it nicely.

This is great if you want to have articles like a newsflash to appear, it is also good for testimonials on site, instead having a page of testimonials or displaying one random testimonial each refresh, this module can rotate the testimonials around
Very useful

this module is really great, it really did what I want and can be flexible, but 1 thing I don't like is the random setting, I set 10 item count in random, but I always got less than 10 (and to test it if it does do the job, I unpublished some articles to make it exactly 10). but it did not reach 10 articles list it only display 4 and it is not in random as it always display the same list but only have different position. I hope if this is a bug or something please let us know. (it was in a normal list not the Ajax.) ^^

I've been working for a free solution for a carousel module, and this was the best alternative I found.

Worked great from the get go, with very easy to understand instructions.

A suggestion to make it an even better extension: add support for manual transition (arrows). This way user can navigate as they wish.

Thanks!

This is great, I was looking for a way to hide content so as not to take the users eye away from some photo's. I didn't want to use the usual 'read more' as I needed the user to stay on the same page.

I found this extension and installed / configured it in literally less than 2 minutes and it does the job perfectly.

My client will be stocked, many thanks indeed :)

Module works without a flaw on my Joomla 1.5.3 Website.
Many options in configuration panel.
I definitely recommend it.

This module is amazing on how many different ways you can display content. Very, very flexible. I use it for showing a list of content in chronological order (for showing upcoming events), another for randomly showing the intro text of content each time that the page is refreshed, and yet another for showing YouTube videos with a "current" video along with a list of past videos. In other words, you can use this a million different ways on your website and can often combine several UCDs on the same pages for really cool ideas. The best display module out there!

Thanks for this GREAT module!

Was not easy to find though. The joomlaworks.gr site is bit flat... :) And the name doesn't suggest what it is about.
1 validation error confirmed.

But never mind I finally have what I was looking for.
This module, in Ajax mode, has a very nice effect, and is very easy to configure. Instead, I don't like jQuery mode...

There could be a problem with ISO/UTF8 encoding (chars like è, ù, ...), in this case, go here for resolution:
http://forum.joomlaworks.gr/index.php?topic=1717.msg7374#msg7374

Another problem could be that is not possibile to set transparent background... But it can be manually modified in code.

Thank you JoomlaWork! You always made great works!
I looked at many modules for use as a slideshow. Most had problems that made them unusable... even ones from the maker of this module, such as Simple Image Rotator and Header Rotator. Among the problems were javascript errors within IE, blank images, png unable to work in IE... wasted many long nights trying to find something that would work.

Although a slideshow is not the intended purpose of this module, it does it very well-- fully html customizable.

Be advised, however, that it will generate a W3C validation problem:
Line 142, Column 37: document type does not allow element "style" here.

My only other beef is that the text is a little shaky on load. A minor problem, however.

I have actually been looking for something with which to display results of waterpolo and swimming matches on my website. Due to the limited nature of sections and categories in joomla, and newsfeed option, I was unable to produce the wide range of different groups of results I wanted to.
After searching for an all in one product for ages - along comes UCD, allowing me to use Joomla's standard content layout and display everything I want, where I want it, in the style I want it!
I can now have a constant news feed in the top left displaying all content, whilst clicking on a link to a team takes you to all their results, or clicking on a link to a league takes you to all that league's results.
RESULT!

thankyou UCD, I shall let you know how I get on...

This module is very simple to use with excellent documentation included in the place where you edit, the content. No looking all over for an answer it is included with each instance of the module.

The only drawback thus far is an error that rears its ugly head with some IE users. Cannot replicate the error in Opera or Firefox, but IE6 & 7 the page will not completely load and error stops the page load.

If using one of the alternative browsers then have at this great module!!!
bybuzzworkers on June 13, 2007
Works perfect, but i do have some encoding(when using ajax) problem even if i change the encoding to ISO-8859-1. beside that this module is perfect !
bystakleni on June 12, 2007
It's not supported for CE characters! Very poor forum support. I did the recommendation it was made to me and the main content changed encoding from windows-1250 to windows-1252.
Owner's reply

If someone made a recommendation to you, then you ain't got "poor forum support". The fact that you're using windows-XXXX encoding should worry you most. ;)
