The "Ultimate Content Display" module by JoomlaWorks is a "super content retrieval module"!
"Ultimate Content Display" (or UCD for short) can fetch and display your Joomla! content or newsfeed items in any module position in 3 different ways. In a plain (unordered) list format, inside an ajax cross-fader or inside a jQuery-based cross-fader/slider! 3 unique ways to display your content or newsfeed items!
So you can have for example a "latest news" side module, along with a cross fader box that retrieves content from a specific category dynamically and a content slider, acting as a "newsflash" box! Pretty cool, right?
The "Ultimate Content Display" module is actually the evolution of JoomlaWorks' popular "Ultimate AJAX Newsflash" and "Content Items Fading Scroller" modules and has been developed with ease of use and... practicality in mind! It's the kind of module you "set and forget", cause it simply works! Plus, it can help you create powerful Joomla! based portal websites, which require various types of "content" or "info" boxes, floating around your main content.
The module is entirely CSS based, with a unique "neutral" styling to match your website's design.
The release of the "Ultimate Content Display" module also marks the retirement of the "Ultimate AJAX Newsflash" and "Content Items Fading Scroller" modules. We advise all existing users of the replaced modules to upgrade to this new product, as it combines and expands their functions.

***Version 1.1 Changelog (May 27th, 2008)***
*************************************************
Native Joomla! 1.5 version released.
for 3 days i was seeking for and testing all these news scrollers and faders to find the one that meets my needs without any code modification ... finally i found this one ... Easy to use, versatile, everything configurable from the admin panel ... this is as the title says - the Ultimate one ... Many thanks to its authors, great job
Shows articles as it says, with a slider or a normal view, however the lack of a simple scroller makes is a big minus for the module.
With a scroller the module would be perfect, setting a slider or a normal view will depend on the size of the article and if you set modules above or under you will either leave big blank spaces between modules or cut articles in a nasty way.
A scroller is needed for the module to be excelent, believe it or not there are not many scrollers that actually work.

Installed easily; a bit of experimenting to configure; and voila a snazzy display of featured articles. I strongly recommend this module, especially when you need to expose those deep articles on your frontpage view.
Allot of site want to charge for image rotators/faders when this does it all for free.
It takes more configuration than a simple module to article component but it does so much more.
Images are put into articles in a category etc and are then used to create slidding/fading active content which can contain any code an article can e.g. links.
Changing the pictures/content is as easy as changing articles.
Great module

Great module
Great little display module for rotating news or testimonials around, the only little change I had to do, was that I wanted to keep the module title within the containing UCD div, so on lines 375, 415 and 470 of mod_jw_ucd.php I put
showtitle){ echo '' .$module->title .''; } ?>
No issues with ajax or jQuery for me either, all worked spot on!

Excelent, but a word limit in the title and maybe the autor should be great!
This may sound like an exaggeration, but this module is actually one of the best modules I've come across (and I've used a fair few). I love the flexibility and the ease of set up - along with the fact that you've still got complete control.
Up and running with the exact settings I wanted within 3 minutes and blends beautifully into my template.
Guys, thank you so much!

This is a wonderful module, have used it before, but now it does not work in the latest version of Joomla15. This is a real shame. I would rate it as excellent - but now that it no longer is compatible with Joomla 15.1.15, I can´t really rate it at all. I hope there will be a solution in the near future.
First of all, thanks to the developers who made this free extension.
Some things would help a lot:
1. More control over images, so your listing come prettier.
2. Color selection in the color fields.
3. Distribute the list in 2 or 3 columns
4. Option to get a button for Read More.
Thanks and nice work for all the joomla folks.

it looks great, especially the movies theme, and is super easy to install and get up and running. but you can only display the number of slides that can fit within the image container.
For example, if you have your main image set at 400px high, and your thumbnails set to 100px high, you'll only be able to display 4 thumbnails, any more and you'll have show a hideous old school scrollbar. it needs up and down arrows, or needs to scroll on hover or something.
This unfortunately kills this plugin if you need to display more information on your frontpage slideshow.

It looks really good, it's quite popular, so I decided to include it.
But everything went pear shaped when I created a second instance to show it on different pages than the first one. For some reasons the second one did not show the images, or messed up the styles or did not show the list items as such. Then after saving the module settings without any modification, the problems were different such as displaying titles when I said not to display titles... etc.
Someone had the same problem as me and posted a request on their forum... in May, and still no response, so I guess I have to pass on this one.
As I said, it's great as long as you don't use more than one instance.

This is absolutely perfect! Extremely easy to setup, even for amateur Joomla user, like me. Really powerful, easy to customize. One of my favourite add-ons so far. Great job once again JoomlaWorks!
Hi there,
many thanks for this great extension.
It contains everything I was looking for, except:
I needed the possibility to set it's background color to transparent.
Since it's not supported by the module itself, I had to modify the code.
Could you please include this feature one of the next releases?
I would greatly appreciate it!

The module provider should specify that this module doesn't work with multilanguage when you config it as AJAX CROSS FADER.
With JQUERY CROSS FADER/SLIDER multilanguage works.
Why the module usese jquery instead mootools ( joomla 1.5 comes with mootools ) ?
It's a nice extension.
