Download files can be grouped in categories with own description and customized layout. Any category can be linked to separate menu item with own format layout. Here are also possible multiple assignments of categories to the menu with extended formatting for frontend presentation.
To each download file can be assigned Bug Tracker listing with the possibility for registred users to add new problem descriptions and comments. Site administrator can edit/add/delete any text message as well as change the problem status (pending/closed) from site frontend. Simple download statistics is provided.
New upgraded 2.0.5 version has extended security check and e-mail notification for Bug Tracker events.
Version 1.0.3 (english version only, without autopublish mode and multiple assignments to menus) is component suited for Joomla 1.0.x.

I love this and highly recommend it. Only thing I'd like to see now is an RSS feed for it to notify subscribers that a new file is available for download...if anyone knows of one, please let us know!

It's a nice extension, though it can be dangerous: there is a way of specifying full download path manually. With autopublish feature in hands of less experienced user this can be dangerous.
Let's say user changes the path from default "download" to site's root directory. With autopublish feature all files in root directory gets published. After user see a lot of meningless filenames to him in filelist, like "configuration.php", "htaccess.txt" etc., he realizes, that he did something wrong. So he reverts the path to the previous "download", but files in filelist didn't go away. So he chooses to delete them, and since there is only possibility to delete files at once from the server and from database, this action can crash the whole site. :) And it happened already. :)

Sorry for misunderstanding but JotLoader performed exactly what was requested. In advanced settings (covering settings for experienced administrators) here is no limitation to download root assignment. JotLoader standart setting for this variable is download directory under Joomla top directory where no collisions occurs.

I was glad to kick-off old-fashioned monstrous Remository and start to use this component. Author made a good job at ver 2.0: many bugs fixed, he did whole code refactoring. It's simple and flexible component, it's a piece of cake and a hack (in best meaning of this word).
Thank you very much, Vladimir for your efforts and support!

Used this for a site where a customised version was required to add a description to each file and view it within the index listing. Developer supplied an updated version by return. This is a well written component which performs well and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
If you need a list of files and want to split them across multiple pages (using different categories) JotLoader is an excellent solution.

I wanted a downloader for files that allowed catagories, without multiple pages, and navigation. This is brilliant, simple to install, and a breeze to manage. If you want simple, working and good download management, then this is the one you need to look at.

I have Joomla Flash Uploader for site members to upload to a specific directory and my intent is to have a download page available only to site administrators. I want to have it so administrators can go directly to the downloads page without requiring them to go to the JotLoader control panel to make the uploaded items "published". Other than that little hitch, JotLoader does what it claims and works fine.

I've installed jotLoader without any problems on my joomla1.5 website. With a little html/css knowledge it's very flexible and was easy to configure to my needs. I Had a little problem setting up different download areas, but solved it thanks to very quick (1hour!)and helpful support by the developer.
Recommended. Very straight forward, easy and absolutely enough for my needs

hi,
I just downloaded and installed this component. It works just fine. You only need to know how to install component, make directory writable and provide link on menu. That's all. Good work. Thank you.
