JotLoader ComponentPluginLanguage

JotLoader, version 2.2, is native Joomla 1.5.x multilanguage download component (english/german/french/polish) with autopublish feature, allowing administrator operations with groups of files for easier maintenance as well as allocation of external download root directory.
Download files can be grouped in categories with own description and customized layout. Any category can be linked to separate menu item with own format layout. Here are also possible multiple assignments of categories to the menu with extended formatting for frontend presentation.
To each download file can be assigned Bug Tracker listing with the possibility for registred users to add new problem descriptions and comments. Site administrator can edit/add/delete any text message as well as change the problem status (pending/closed) from site frontend. Simple download statistics is provided.
Latest version 2.2.1 has possibility to force registration of front-end users before file download.
Version 1.0.3 (english version only, without autopublish mode and multiple assignments to menus) is component suited for Joomla 1.0.x.
New developed JotLoader Search Plugin allows to use standart Joomla 1.5 search framework for searching download files together with other content on the web site. Now it is possible to use specific search for download files inside JotLoader (with settings on Page template) and/or general search over the entire content of the site.

I have been using this download component for over a year now. If you are looking for a simple and easy to use download component, try this one! I like it.
I tried few of the download extensions but this is the one I was looking for. It has simple and clean format. Great extension. Thanks
I've tried numerous file download components but still have yet to find one that works for me. Although I must say JotLoader is very good, if only it can do a bit more. I have a several thousands files stored in a directory structure where from the top directory, multiple sub-directories and layers exists. JotLoader is great, but only able to detect file in one single directory with no recursive look up for the directories beneath it. I've also attempted to set the "download" dir to the top level folder and then manually add files. However, the module doesn't seem to be able to add files that already exists in the server. Nevertheless, Jotloader is worth looking into for anyone without my complex structure.

THIS is a great estension!!! It simply fits perfectly the need for a nice storage/download manager, being able to link different menu items to different categories, but always to the same module, so you don't have to duplicate it. Also it can manage several kind of file, always from same directory: you just classify the file, upload it and JOT makes all the rest.
Would be useful to have a plugin working like a pay-to-download, or able to embed somethink like PayPal quick buy system.
For an axtension like this, it would be really the maximum!!!!
WELL DONE!!

I was looking for something that was easy to use and not time consuming. you simply upload your files using FTP and when the downloads page is called it automatically scans the directory for new uploads and automatically adds them to the database. I have created a category called new and all new downloads are put there until I move them to another category.

What I really like about it is it allows you to store downloads outside of Joomla's directory structure.

One feature which would really improve it is to also scan sub-directories and then automatically create categories based on these folders.

This would avoid the problem of having to put all your files in one directory and would also create categories for you automatically which means that once installed you would practically not have to do any work besides uploading the files.

Great job!

Just want to say that I find this extension highly recommended. It's simple and clean and can be easily customized with little knowledge of html. Support is great. I got an answer to my question later the same day.

This component works correctly. Unfortunately the version in French does not translate certain terms (Filter, Line, Size, Adde, Hits, Download). It would be interesting to be able to parametrize the display in frontend (Selection of columns to be shown, fields to be shown). In particular fields "Category" and "Bug Tracker" should be able to not display. Even if there are small evolutions to be made, the component is purified (it is for what we ask) and answers completely the need. Thank you very much for the realized work.

All the mentioned terms (Filter, Line, Size, Added, Hits, Download) as well as fields (e.g. Category, Bug Tracker) are part of JotLoader templates (see Global Settings) and here they can be changed to any prefered language. You can not only change the wording of terms or columns but you can change the presentation skin for front-end you like (text and images as well).

this good extension but unfortunatelly, this extension cant support download from another link site

I love this and highly recommend it. Only thing I'd like to see now is an RSS feed for it to notify subscribers that a new file is available for download...if anyone knows of one, please let us know!
It's a nice extension, though it can be dangerous: there is a way of specifying full download path manually. With autopublish feature in hands of less experienced user this can be dangerous.
Let's say user changes the path from default "download" to site's root directory. With autopublish feature all files in root directory gets published. After user see a lot of meningless filenames to him in filelist, like "configuration.php", "htaccess.txt" etc., he realizes, that he did something wrong. So he reverts the path to the previous "download", but files in filelist didn't go away. So he chooses to delete them, and since there is only possibility to delete files at once from the server and from database, this action can crash the whole site. :) And it happened already. :)

Sorry for misunderstanding but JotLoader performed exactly what was requested. In advanced settings (covering settings for experienced administrators) here is no limitation to download root assignment. JotLoader standart setting for this variable is download directory under Joomla top directory where no collisions occurs.

I was glad to kick-off old-fashioned monstrous Remository and start to use this component. Author made a good job at ver 2.0: many bugs fixed, he did whole code refactoring. It's simple and flexible component, it's a piece of cake and a hack (in best meaning of this word).

Thank you very much, Vladimir for your efforts and support!

Used this for a site where a customised version was required to add a description to each file and view it within the index listing. Developer supplied an updated version by return. This is a well written component which performs well and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
If you need a list of files and want to split them across multiple pages (using different categories) JotLoader is an excellent solution.

I wanted a downloader for files that allowed catagories, without multiple pages, and navigation. This is brilliant, simple to install, and a breeze to manage. If you want simple, working and good download management, then this is the one you need to look at.

I have Joomla Flash Uploader for site members to upload to a specific directory and my intent is to have a download page available only to site administrators. I want to have it so administrators can go directly to the downloads page without requiring them to go to the JotLoader control panel to make the uploaded items "published". Other than that little hitch, JotLoader does what it claims and works fine.

New JotLoader version 2.0 allows autopublish function for selected download category.

I've installed jotLoader without any problems on my joomla1.5 website. With a little html/css knowledge it's very flexible and was easy to configure to my needs. I Had a little problem setting up different download areas, but solved it thanks to very quick (1hour!)and helpful support by the developer.
Recommended. Very straight forward, easy and absolutely enough for my needs

hi,
I just downloaded and installed this component. It works just fine. You only need to know how to install component, make directory writable and provide link on menu. That's all. Good work. Thank you.
