The Flash Module Module

The Flash Module displays a Flash / SWF file as a module. Useful for flash headers, menus, and much more. Uses parameters to control some of the more important flash player settings including Width, Height, Window Mode and Flash Player Version. The Flash Module can also display your SWF using an external Javacript file (for IE6 and IE7) and can be used multiple times on a single page. *** New version 3.0+ provides alternate HTML display when flash not detected.

This module saved the day for me and my client!
It would be great, though, if the author would at least setup a community forum for support, even if he/she can't personally support it.

I had an issue getting it to show in IE8 (FF and Safari fine). Not sure which actually solved the issue, but I had to make sure I had the height/width declared, Javascript on and HTML inserted. Then it worked.
This module overcame a little problem I had quite nicely, I wanted a different flash slider dependant on where the user was in the site and this allows for multiple modules to use the same swf with a varying file list. There was a little more to tweak than was said below and this is what I did:
added 2 new params in the xml file,added variables to the mod_flashmod.php and changed the echo ' ';
You should be able to work out that there are a few places to add these variable and bang wollop she works!
Absolutely awesome and I'm a Joomla newbie!

Hello, I like this module, it`s very usefull. The only confusing part is to get it work with flash movies, which read from xml. A guy bellow says that we need to set another param to the php code. Can somebody explain that in greater details?
Thanks in advance!

I was getting frustrated with the lack of options for a Main Menu to support my graphic buttons and decided Flash would be the way to go. I discovered this mod and it did the trick! I am very excited about this and am also quite pleased with the parameters included. Especially the one that allows my Flash menu to be transparent. :)

I'm sure this works fine however I am very new to Joomla and this does not offer any documentation. Some say they had it installed and flash running in 5 minutes. Great for them! I have no idea how/where to upload my swf file no is there any instructions. The module says image/flash is the path but I have no idea how to find or place to that path.
So far it is one of the easy installed and effective module i have seen. This module worked fine but it is not loading the flash banner on two of my sites pages.

it shows a blank space on the banner space and i am getting the "movie not loaded" error once i right click on it.

any suggestion?

I'm a new Joomla user and tried a bit on my own to get a flash project working on a site I've been developing. No matter what I did, it wasn't going to work. Then I found this module. Perfect!
Thanks!

Hi Hope your well, this is a great extension, thank you so much for making it! one thing that would be awesome to add to it would be a base param , setable from the Joomla menu. I had some XML that was in another folder and to access it I just added echo ' '; and echo ",'base','".$fm_path."'"; to the code.

Thanks again for a great extensions.

I am thrilled with this module. Have had problems with flash on websites so this is a revelation! So easy and fast to set up and use. I made the mistake of putting the file .swf name in both file and path to begin with but once that was sorted it worked brilliantly! Thank YOU
WINDOW mode doesnt work good for flash banner near the drop down menu system,as the menu items hide behind the flash.
It needs the TRANSPARENT mode and when I activate this on the module paramter, the whol layout of my flash banner changes.

Not sure, why it happens, but doesnt seem to work.
Need the owner's reply.
No real website or support email to contact for also :(

A very nice module, simple and effective. However it's the only one that keeps my site from being 100% valid due to using .
Any chance to modify it using some techiques (e.g. Flash satay)?
This was amazingly FAST and EASY!!! Installed the mod, entered the info, and it worked PERFECTLY!

The only thing I didn't get right the first time was changing "window" to "transparent."

Less than 5 minutes from download to a working flash element!

Thank you!!!
Great module, does exactly what it should :)
However if U're using sh404SEF on your site, be sure to use the absolute path (leading slash) to the folder where the swf file is located...
etc. if it's located in www.sitename.com/images/flash be sure to enter file location like "/images/flash", otherwise the swf movie will be visible ONLY on the homepage....
This is a very easy-to-use module. However, when I turn on Joomla build-in SEF or SH404 SEF, the flash only shows up on the home page. Blank in all other pages.

It returns to normal once I turns off Joomla SEF or SH404 SEF. I run it on a fresh installation of Joomla 1.5.9

Excellent! Using Joomla 1.5.7 and this module works great, even transparency of swf file.
Thank you.
Works simply and nicely. I had a problem with the flash images not showing when someone clicked on "Read more" in my articles.

I examined the module and saw that file path, by default was set to images/flash/

I modified it to /images/flash/ (adding the forward /) and the images on the readmore page loaded fine.

I am forwarding this note to the developer, but felt it would be helpful here until he reviews my suggestion.

This is a very useful component, simple to use and it does what is says.
There should be some documentation though. People might have questions.
No documentation is a big disadvantage for me, no matter how simple a component might be.

I like this module but i need to show multiple banners in one position. Lots of sites working like that if you refresh the page then banner changes. Is this possible maybe next version?
