Joomla! Access Control Plugin Plugin

As you probably know, Joomla 1.5 doesn't allow a granular Access Control, but an ACL will probably be a feature of new Joomla! versions (1.6?). In the meantime, I decided to write this simple extension. This totally unobtrusive plugin allows you to introduce some basic Access Control in your Joomla! extensions (components and modules), without having to edit the Joomla! core files or the Joomla! core database. If you need to categorize your users in groups (let say, students and teachers), giving them specific permissions in the front-end and/or different views of your Joomla! website, this Joomla! plugin is what you need.

Report

I installed the GUI and the Plugin. I modified the code as listed on the website. I looked at the Joomla WIKI . . . I modified the error messages in order for the prgram to tell me where it was failing. It fails in the first exicution. It does not call ARO_GROUPS. It fails to create a group. I added the group manually to the database. Then tried to add it again through the gui. FAILED!

This can't be that hard. Adding extra groups to Joomla 1.5 CANNOT BE THIS HARD! I am not running a "newspaper" website. I need actual Group LEVELS . . not editors and publishers. This is the 3rd program I've tried. JACLPLUS is a scam and thusly unusable. I really really wish I could find something that worked.

Wonderful idea, but the execution unsuccessful.
I hope the next version will appear in the GUI for managing groups and rights ...
