Everything Gavick touches turns to gold. Every one of their extensions do everything they say they will do. The fact that they are free is a bonus. Of course their templates are a marvel as well!

I really like it - with some customizing I made it perfoect for my site.
The only thing I REALLY miss generating of thumbnails (Because mozilla for example does not downsize images nicely. Google Chrome on the other hand makes nice and smooth downsized images.)
I am still giving this module five stars, because I believe, that this function will be integrated in future.

I really like the Gavick stuff and great that they release quite a lot for free too. Can't argue with that!
I did have problems getting this to validate though... I get this tag:
With no closing
I did submit this to the forums, but haven't heard back yet... would be good to get this fixed, if indeed it is an error.

good but not compatible for IE 6, and very difficult to configure it to make it suitable for IE 6. Finally I have to give it up.

This is one massive solution for presenting your news in the smoothest possible way and it has lots and lots of potential!
I simply needed a Latest News module that could truncate the titles, because I care about my design as well as functionality. This module can do that!
In fact it's a bit of an overkill because I hardly use any of the modules features, but it gave me what I was looking for - where all other solutions failed. And that's what matters!
And there's so much more in this. If you know a little CSS this module can take you a long way and can become almost anything you want it to be!
Thumbs up to the thevelopers for this one - this is a brilliant piece of work!

If I had written this review the first day I downloaded this component and created a support ticket, I would have given the developers a higher rating and a better review.
4 days later, I am still waiting to get a response on to my entry for help on the forum. The developers responded to my first post with a question that wasn't clear to me being a new Joomla user and when I replied with a question asking for clarification, I got nothing and still don't.
No response. No help. No working component. Articles without headings....useless!
Very unhappy with these guys!!!!

Some of the best extensions for content display and manipulation. Just have to give title, pic, intro... show/hide option and order to show. Great!

What is not so good is that the component eyxtremly decreases your siteperformance. It increases the generation/loading time of your page. That depends on how many instances of the module your are running. it can take up to 10-20 sec. That means your visitor sees nothing, before this time is over. That means you loose your visitors. That is because the creator of this plugin are generating the CSS-Stylesheet dynamically.

Quite a versatile module - simply the best for article display. It could have been generating the thumbnails via php and storing them rather than just scaling the original image which wastes bandwidth, though. Offers a large collection of configuration options and I hope that it will be improved further.

First off I need to say excellent component, It has many options an adds an extra to your homepage (or elsewhere on your website)
I discovered a issue with the component. When you change the publishing date of an article to let’s say a day later. News Show will display the article even if the start date isn’t valid yet. It generates a read more link. When you click on it you will get a page error because joomla hasn’t published the article yet.
Is there a way I can fix this? Thanks in advance
