EasyTemplate Component

Who doesn't know those nice editors-xtd Mambots/Plugins floating around im Joomla! extension directory.
There comes a time when your editor gets really clustered if you have a lot of them.

So we thought we just make ONE button, to access them ALL !

EasyTemplate is an extension for Joomla! 1.5 WYSIWYG editors.
It adds a new button to insert predefined Strings/Tags -> Templates with a single click.

You already know the JCE editor plugin.
Now you can define your own HTML code and insert it with a single click - works in all editor that include editors-xtd plugins, or you can use Divs, Urls etc. just everything but scripts

To get the curly braces strings {...} working, you need to install and publish some additional plugins (e.g. Xtypo).

Great little tool that I'm using to allow fellow contributors to our site write articles in the correct format. While there are some things I also tried to get it to do that didn't work, to be honest, sometimes simpler is better and this does the basic templating job very well, with parameters and categorisation so that I can add dozens of templates. My colleagues won't have any trouble using this. Thanks for spending the time to develop it and put it out there!
I was keeping lists upon lists of command strings for various plugins I'd collected for testing and showing to the board for a site I'm building the skeleton for, but this single editor button has allowed me to throw almost all those lists completely out the window!

It took me a little time to set up categories and templates, but now that I have done it once, I've exported the data through the tool and will be able to import it on any other site I work on.

The only thing that could make this plugin any better would be if there were permissions on the categories, so I could put all the "publisher and administrator only" commands into the plugin without all authors seeing them.

We've been looking high and low to find a solution to be able to format a specific article for non-techie editors through use of a WYSIWYG template.. and came across Easy Template, and would love to use it. However, we're finding that the forum, in German, is not so easy to find the answers,.. even when you select English many of the posts remain in German.

Author: If you are able to make the site more usable I think such a great extension as this would gain a lot of users.. but, being posted on an English forum and not having the resources in English could very well pose a problem for many..

I realize this thing is only in 0.0.3beta (as of this writing), but this is almost exactly what I've needed. As this matures, I would love to see this able to handle fairly complex user forms. Keep working on it, and it will get more stars guaranteed.
This component makes easier to insert many plugin syntax tags. I can't love it more.
Hope the author will add more tags for those popular plugins, such as XTypo, Allvideos Plugin, etc.
Thanks to the author.

We have added import/export functionality to the latest version - feel free to send us your template packs so we can make them available to the community.

I really like this little addition. Very good job with it.

My suggestions are as follows:
1. Like the suggestion below, give authors the ability to create a kind of dialog with the users. For example:
Insert tag, Prompt user for some parameters, throw the parameters into the appropriate predefined position. Useful for things like... [ youtube:PasteURLHere ]
2. We need to be able to delete Categories as well as adding them. If there is a way to delete them, I wasn't able to find it.

Thanks, this is a really good addition!

Very simple to install, use and configure, although would be nice to define parameters in the code that would have a basic form being generated for authors to fill in said parameters.

Very good suggestion.
It has been added to the latest version - thanks for your input.

This is a great idea that I wish worked with the XStandard WYSIWYG Editor. Everything works on the back end, but when I try to select a template I created from the front end nothing happens.

We have also tested with XStandard and could not find any problems :(

But since XStandard is not available for Linux we can not perform further testing ;)

This is a nice addition to my site. It's great that now I have a means of placing the syntax of my content plugins in an area where I can access them and not have to remember the syntax. GOOD JOB!!
