Will not work if your Joomla installation is in a subfolder on your site. I am happy someone is trying to develop a shoutbox for 1.5 though.

I had been waiting to find a 1.5 shout box since last November when I first started learning Joomla and started with 1.5

I have installed it and had some errors and problems, but they were all addressed after I posted in the forum for TurtuShout.

No it does not have smilies, but these are not essential for the shout box to work and it allows users of my site to communicate with each other.

I have just re-installed and it still has a few iss-sues, but it is working and I am happy.

Well done ksu on building it and I have high hopes for improvement in the future.

I think this is going to be a pretty good script if the developer gives it the attention it needs. It's a shame that people with no development knowledge comment on things provided to them for free in a bad way. I am not saying don't comment, but instead of saying something so negative, give the person some credit for trying and looking for feedback to make improvements.

What we need is a shoutbox for version 1.5 that works with the following abilities and more. Feel free to contact me if you want more ideas.

1. Only use the shoutbox if registered.
2. If a person were to click on a link in the main menu for the shoutbox I would hope the responding page would ask them to register if they were not already logged in or
3. Only show the link in the main menu if they are logged in.
4. Include smiley faces
5. Limit the amount of text shown on the screen before the conversation scrolls off the page.
6. Include a link at the top of the shoutbox called shoutbox and when clicked allows you to go through the last 100+ or more posts so people can get in on the conversation or see what they missed.
7. Allow hyperlinks that OPEN NEW WINDOWS
8. Easily allows you to specify the height and width of your shoutbox plus change colors to match your site.

I can add more if you are interested.

This is what this community needs for a shoutbox.. Something better then VB Shoutbox that can be added to a wrapper or a static page and linked to from the main menu. Whoever does this will have mine and many others praise forever.

I had high hopes for this as its the first ajax shoutit for 1.5, but alas it fails miserably. The serious lack of features like smileys, and auto username lookup don't help either. For now this is simply vaporware and not worth touching.

This module tells you to read the Readme.txt - in the module config.

There is no readme in the package so i can hardly say it will be possible to find it at all - installed or not.

This mod produces an error based on line 29 in the "main" php file:
Undefined index: HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH

If this is related to any info in the readme file - i suggest it being added ;)

I see a message at the developers site, on the download page, that are similar to my report here...
