This is a great component, simple, fast and reliable. Everything works very well and I didn't have even one error message.
The best part is the way it handles html. I send Greek newsletter and they arrive perfect.
The only thing I'm missing, I don't know if I didn't find it, is to chose a link to redirect after the subscription confirmation, where I have the free download I promise them.
All in all this mod is exceelent - just one small glitch with the landing page:
once you subscribe you get to a page saying that you have been subscribed, but directly below it is a link saying please subscribe with a big green plus sign, and it then takes you to a page which seems to mimic the subscribe mod.
If possible I'd like nothing below the "you have been subscribed"....
suggestions?

Installed easily (after I allowed writing to the media directory) and was easy to configure. Adding current database users was straight forward. The newsletter creation is very simple.

As stated in another review; if you add the subscription as a Module to the left or right column on your site, when submitting your subscription it will redirect you to the subscription page. This will probably confuse the user to think that they have to subscribe again. There should be an option to redirect to a different page after the subscription is complete.

This is a Good Component overall, but it lacks some thing that just goes under the nose..

Problem is a lot of people that are with certain Hosting Company's that actually put a email cap limit, for me its 500 emails per/hr. Now I have over a 1200 mailing lists from the members / users, So only about the first 400-500 users get the Newsletter/email and the rest never goes there.

Maybe this should have the option of letting us chose how many emails it can send in a hour.. so that in the end even after few hrs all the people get the mail's delivered,

Switched to Communicator RC3 from Letterman. It works great and the developer has been very responsive.
Import of old address lists worked like a charm.
Did a local translation which was added within a week. Subscribe/unsubscribe module makes it easy for my users (approx 1000 users) to participate.

Lots of thanks to the developer, and hope that he will continue to develop Communicator and add new features.
I have been using Communicator or about 4 of my sites now. Always installs and runs without a problem.

Just an excellent extension that is very simple and easy to use. Try it for yourself!

Thank you Developers AAAAA+++++++++++++++
I used letterman and switched to communicator. It has worked great in three of my sites, but I've been having trouble with the fourth that has a list of 17,000 addresses. It would hand and display a blank page (even with debugging) at about 600 and not proceed. I tried purging and re-uploading but kept getting no result, so I uninstalled (also deleted tables) and reinstalled. Get no errors but import subscribers does not import any.

I loved this when it worked, but still feel I do not have a universal and reliable newsletter solution. I look forward to future updates.

I would love to see better throttling support also, so I can just walk away and have it send in batches rather than have to click every few minutes to send bursts.

Not buggy -and it is so easy to use! Thank You For This!
This is a very simple newsletter extension. It is very easy to understand. You can import and export csv address files.

The newsletters have to be created and sent manually. One great feature is you can add articles to the newsletter by clicking in a list. There is also throttling of email to prevent all your newsletters to get stuck in the recipients’ spamfilters.

If you need a simple newletter that just works, this is it.

Thanks a lot for this great component!

Everyone can use it right out of the box. No long-time configuration. Everything works fine!

Again, this application is definitely easy to use.

If you want to create newsletters with minimal effort with an easy subscribe form, this is an excellent component. It takes 15 seconds to make it work. Very simple yet powerful. I hope in future releases developers will add a captcha or email confirmation for guest subscribers. Thank you

You have a well developed extension here. I was looking for a component that would properly embed my images and custom made template with ease and it has worked perfectly, where as some of the other extensions (even with image embed on) did not embed my images.

Thanks for this free and easy to use extension!

I am surprised by all the positive reviews. I have never before written a negative review, but this extension is not really ready for release.

I downloaded it and installed it without any problems, but when subscribing to the mailing list sent users to a page asking them to subscribe again, I clicked on the support link. "Support" consists of being told that you need to spend 10 euros for access to the help forum. I did just that, but was surprised to find the forum consisted of 5 posts. Nevertheless, I posted my problems and waited 5 days for a response, only to be told that the problem would be fixed in the next release. I'm sorry, what did I spend 10 euros for again?

Bottom line is that asking the user to sign up again makes the extension unprofessional and unusable. There is no documentation and "support" is nonexistent.

Hi. Always sad to hear the critic, and even if its not mounted on the component itself !

The forum is locked and only open for those who donates, so we get the serious questions to make a bugfix and roadmap, and not a lot of crap. This has been important to eliminate a lot of bugs, don't use time on silly questions, and those who will get free access is those who sent translations and so on. This has been very usefull and all extensions now have a lot of translation. (sometimes you have to force the development)

So you see, the support is not getting
your problem solved today, but is put in and fixed in time.

But the forum will soon be open for public (before 15 january), becouse we have a big roadmap and a co-developer at our site now.

Good work. I hope it get further supported and does not drift into commercial world (like ccNewsletter).

As I said on my email, this is a great plugin/component. Duplicating existing newsletter would be amazing!

Thanks for creating communicator and for keeping it simple!
Very clean and runs smoothly. If Apple were making a simple newsletter solution for Joomla, it would look like Communicator. Well done!

Just one issue that seems to be lacking: the ability to copy a newsletter. I have the same style every newsletter I send out, so I just want to copy an old newsletter and then edit it before sending. Maybe you can add this in a future version?

Thanks for an excellent module guys. This one does just what I needed and is so simple to install. When I get paid on this project, I will be donating to the pizza fund.
I have used Acajoom Pro and other newsletter components for my clients and this one by far is the easiest to use. Everything worked out of the box and creating a newsletter to use as a template was a snap! Now all my clients need to do is copy the template with the copy function, edit and send. That easy.

To the author, thank you! One nice little enhancement would be for the subscribe module to have an unsubscribe button..

When you enter your name and an email address and then press "Subscribe" button it brings you to a wrong page where you have to click another button and then type your name and email address again and press another btn and only now you are subscribed!!
easy for users, eh?? :-/

There are many people who complained about this issue but no one answered clearly how to fix this.

wasted time

though it subscribes/unsubscribes and sends the newsletters
Owner's reply

Well it works fine on all my 8 sites, and know a lot who use it - maybee you should look at your server, the error might be there, or in your joomla installation.
alternative, go to forum at granhomcms.com

Communicator is a weak name for this extension.
should be name something like "Awesome Letterman clone back from the grave" or something cool like that!
I was a letterman user for a long time and the worst part about updating to 1.5 was loosing it.
thanks for bringing Awesome Letterman clone back from the grave.
